@@Flyxolydian91 I think what sets Mitch apart from many of competitors in strongman is that he's looking to implement innovations or techniques from other sports to strongman. That is something, which really hasn't ever been a focus of a competitor like Tom Stoltman, Eddie Hall, Hafthor Bjornsson. The more usual way is to focus on perfecting techniques that are already used in strongman competitions and on getting bigger, stronger, faster. I think eventually Mitch will have a profound impact on the world of strongman and on how certain lifts are done in competition just cause what he does is better. I don't think Tom could ever have that impact.

Allthough Hooper is indeed a very good strongman and ahead of most of the others. I think one of the reasons is that he wins so much is because the average level of strongman went down. Thor took a break, Big Z and Brian were past their prime. Martins is not what he was, Matheusz had a lot of injuries, same counts for Oleksi etc. Of course there is also no Eddie hall who easily strict pressed the 216kg axle and obviously had more in him. Would be fun to have seen hooper compete in the age of the titans.

You can see in his face..it is strategy. He does not do 1 thing that isnt planned or rehearsed 50 times..every bloody second he knows exactely what the plan is and then executes it as flawless as possible. That and his superior training methods and academic background give him an edge

@@rossysossy I think Thor would win any loading race, husafell stone, and that thing where they go in a circle forgot the name. Any Frame carry and yoke would be really close, depends on the day. Thor should win pure strength events except pressing due to his injury, but deadlift, squat he beats Mitch. Also any throw over bar, truck pull, wheel of pain type events. Tom is king of stones and just beat Mitch recently. Mitch is good but I don’t think he is unbeatable, not at all

Tom is like that behemoth bully that is genetically bigger than everyone else but can still lose to someone who is a true student of the sport like a Hooper and or Licis.

The fact that he set two, and equalled one, world record in one show is crazy (and let's face it, he could have easily smashed that third world record if he choose to do so). I just didn't think Strongman was a discipline you'd see such feats owing to how taxing attempting a record is in a single event, that it would almost by proxy prevent you from backing up to do it again.

Interesting to watch the axle press now compared previous eras. What I have noticed is that there is tendency to adopt part of the style of the Olympic discipline clean and jerk, with the leg split and jerk, rather than a straight arm press, where the legs do not initiate the press, as iron bibby has demonstrated .

The axle record is in my opinion the most important record when determining someone's overall strength off of only 1 lift. So this is an incredible weight and achievement. However, there is a big difference between Iron Biby's strict press, and Hoopers Split jerk. Insane nonetheless, butttttt

Honestly Mitch reminds me of a mix of Mike Jenkins who come in and took big scalps. Yet at the same time the way he dominates 🤔 there's only ever been one true Dominator and that was Marius ! But honestly I think if Mitch avoids injury and continues at the same rate he is, he could easily do the 5x WSM and potentially 6x making him the greatest of all time. He has no weaknesses? Literally none, perfect all round Strongman 🤷♂️ 🎉 definitely very interested in next 5 years

The hardest part is getting it to the shoulders. The axle is as thick as a coke can (so no hook grip) with no whip (for extra momentum) and plates that are fixed to the bar, so it makes the clean ridiculously hard. But it would be amazing to see what a world class weightlifter could do

@@GiantsLiveSTRONGMAN Don't forget the axle has way less flex to it than the bar, limiting the amount of elastic energy the bar can impart to the weight.
