@GRAYgauss Жыл бұрын
@@Aaron86v Yeah, Larry needs to work on his muscle group integration... Absolutely from his discipline which only has synthetic and disjoint forms... His body is pretty godlike, but there's nothing better than power to weight flexible functionality...But if he has that body already, he's only a few months away from becoming unstoppable...imagine if someone like Larry went full on with things like climbing, swimming, gymnastics, or MMA without modifying their other training...The body would naturally find the best average between the two tasks... If you look at the moment in the video where he was gripping that purple start and magnus said to rotate around the shoulder - not pull - you can see Larry is probably doing 10x the effort just for trying his naive way...Definitely goes to show Eddie's more natural strongman applied... I think Eddie is a "just doer" too, I've found most of the intuitive atheletes can't explain what they do, they just do it - Larry is more cerebral, and being that way myself, I know that one's mind can rule the body simply by frayed consternation. You hear Larry explaining what and why..he's processing too much, Eddie seemed to just be a bull that tried being concerned with why he's struggling. It's almost like for beng able to explain, that conscious awareness impinges upon the speed at which you can be dexterous and thus the quality of your rapid decision making. It's like a watched pot never boils... Things that should happen instantly and subconscious get explained with your iteration and in that focus you wasted precious thought processing that should have been just utilized to move, not think about moving, why it's struggling, etc... I compare it to using a debugger in programming development.
@yarnf Жыл бұрын
@@Aaron86v Eddie hall learned to generate momentum out of positions incredibly quickly, I was really impressed with his natural athleticism. He was swinging and deadpointing to catch holds within just a few climbs. There were climbs where he was squeezing two footholds in opposite directions at times too, something you'll never see a beginner do, and his pace of moving feet was really good. Its really cool seeing the caliber of athlete there is underneath that much muscle with the WSM guys.

I appreciate that you give climbing advice that isn't intuitive to non-climbers to give them, and their power, a fair chance. So many strong people come to the gym and try to walk their feet way up the easy problems just because there are holds there, where it is actually harder that way. They tend to do better v2+ where there is space between the holds and they can more naturally keep their hips closer to the wall and rely less on finger strength. Larry seems more chill in this than in the random lifting videos I have seen him in (for obvious reasons I guess). Fun video for sure.

Larry Wheels, what a big personality to go along with his strength! Magnus is doing such a great job hanging and coaching these amazing athletes from other disciplines!

As someone climbing with the same weight as Larry (sadly not as muscular tho), I can see why he is struggling with some of the holds. Physics are hard to ignore on the slopey ones 😂 I've been bouldering for about 2 years now and am steadily at V3. To progress I would really have to lose at minimum 10kg, so I can tackle smaller and/or more slopey holds and overhangs. Very good going for a novice at that weight tho, Larry!

I love bringing in new people to this sport because everyone I bring says the same thing "this is addicting!" Thanks for the inspiration Magnus!

Always good to see how humbled these massive power lifters/ body builders are. Instinctively in everyone's head, bouldering is easy enough... it's not till you try it for yourself you realise it's anything but!

Magnus, I've been watching your videos for forever and climbed a few times in the past, but you have definitely been my main inspiration to get climbing more. These videos give me so much confidence. I flashed a v4 5th time I've ever climbed. Seeing these world star athletes have some trouble on stuff I can do just makes me want to climb harder and push my potential! I owe all the technique i have learned with out climbing to your videos. Keep being you my guy.

Larry Wheels doing that V3 was very impressive, every time he did steep things before slipping cost him lots of energy, so him being able to power through it was great.

total joy to see larry wheels here. seeing that these total superhumans have some struggles too is very interesting. i loved seeing his analytical brain at work. it shouldn't really be surprising to me, but he has this meditativeness and humbleness about him that I assume is an extension to how powerlifting and working out in general is about constantly working to overcome yourself

This is a great collab! I feel like if Larry had better climbing shoes, he would’ve crushed it even more. Still, with that sort of weight, it’s very impressive
