@@lotnewlifewhy5190 i havnt used capain so i am not 100% on this but from what i have seen pretty much. multiverse adds ALOT of ships and guns and a few new races. it also adds elite crew members with active abilities. there is also a feature which makes it so you can upgrade the ship if you dont find an encounter within a node. this kind of makes agments obsolite however. to counteract this there are now combat augments which you can activate at a start of a fight alowing you to for example disable enemy cloaking in exchange for 3 reactor power that single fight.

Multiverse looks a lot like Captain's Edition, except it also takes advantage of newer modding infrastructure that allows you to get around hardcoded stuff in the base game. This means additional races without having to replace any of the old ones, a couple completely new augments as well as additional augments based on the vanilla ones, some QoL stuff, and unlimited extra ship slots without even having to override the existing ones.

It makes me so happy that NL is making more of a point recently to call out how dumb his Twitch chat is being. Every Twitch chat is just people who literally have no idea what they’re talking about, railing on whoever is playing because the player deviated .02% from what the chat has concocted as the perfect run. But simultaneously everybody in chat doesn’t even understand the game or what’s going on in the run enough to make any sense. And when there’s a debate about something, chat splits into like 5 groups that are all screaming that they are right and all other opinions are idiots, then it always turns out that literally everybody in chat was wrong anyways and they’re all idiots. Hearing NL pause the game and deliberately explain to them how dumb they’re being is music to my ears. They’re the worst type of personalities.

Hey NL not sure if youll read this, but the idea for chase/no chase on the flagship fight is (I believe this comes from LethalFrag) - wait in the base for both phase 1 and 2, and chase for 3. The idea is that if you get a whole bunch of boarders in phase 3, you have a safe spot to fall back to (the base) and pick them off before fighting again. You don't have to always chase for 3 though, especially if you have already killed most of the crew. Also if you have a safe beacon away from base you could always fall back there instead.

For flagship, personally I never chase but I’m not a pro player. I think the argument for chasing on third is because of the boarding, so you can have a ton of people board you, jump back to base, kill them all then return to the flagship fight without the flagship having much in the way of crew (I think). I don’t know why you would chase on phase 2 because that’s just drones, so it doesn’t make much sense imo

Since you asked, I think the reason you should or should not follow the flagship away from the base is because you don't want to jump away from the fight if you're at the base. So the answer depends on which phase you're more confident against. If you follow, you can't jump away on phase 3. If you don't, you can't jump away on phase 2. Also, since I'm already backseat gaming: I generally don't ever target ion weapons at shields since they will hit the shields anyway if they're up, and you almost never want to hit the shields if they're already down.

Level 2 cloak is wise redundancy. 2-power cloaking is foolish and nearly lost him the run, together with abandoning the cockpit and engine room to boarders when his evasion was null. That was a time to send everyone to fight and repair, not vacuum the half of his ship in need of urgent repairs during phase 3 flagship. His first revisit victory turned out a fluke.

Federation Cruiser is god tier. I had my best FTL run in existence using the federation cruiser. It really does seem like i's just an improved Kestrel, and starting with 4 varied crew on the Osprey is pog af.
