@@zepheno Essentially, the military that Rico is a part of is fascist, or at least promotes a form of fascism. Furthermore, the book is based on the hunch that humans are actually the instigators of the war and not the other way around.

@@syphe101 Humans are war-loving creatures. We are practitioners of violence. It is how we have come this far in the food chain. Even our evolutionary cousins exhibit signs of organised warfare and violence over territory and resources. Yes, our intelligence and use of tools played a significant role but those mean nothing without the will to wield them. Pacifists exist today by the grace of those willing to fight on their behalf. And there is nothing wrong with that except for when they criticise the warrior, too ignorant to understand how the real world works or what the warrior endures for them to exist. But I get it, the real world is scary. Its easier to hide and believe it is something its not. And you are welcome to that belief. Just don't try force that weakness on others willing to protect your right to have that belief. Anywho, the military in the film and book promotes service. You get rewards for serving the apparatus. No different today when a veteran retires, he gets money for the rest of his life. It is a reward for a sacrifice. Something I get the feeling you understand very little about.
