Great mention of Uriah Heep, Davey. I've been hearing them a lot in recent listenings to the first Queen album too.

There used to be a very grainy with terrible sound live video clip of the original Styx performing outside at what looked like a college. For some reason I think it was removed from the air. But what you could hear of it was great, it was pure early 70's hard rock.

Dennis and JY had a few songs where they trade off on vocals. 22 Years from Serpent is Rising and Put Me On from Crystal Ball.

I'm not a huge Styx fan although I do own a bunch of their albums...So the first two - I'd rate II slightly above the first but I couldn't give either one more than a 5 (out of 10) tops - and that's stretch for me (after all need to leave room for the better/later albums - see below). Neither is a great (or even very good) album IMO. Tracks I like: "After You Leave Me", "Best Thing", "Lady", "A Day", "You Need Love". Equinox, maybe Pieces Of Eight, Brave New World sound better to me. I think their best albums are actually some of the later ones: The Mission, Big Bang Theory, Brave New World, Crash Of The Crown & their best Cyclorama. I'm not big on The Grand Illusion which many will probably name as among their best. This probably puts me at odds with many/most Styx fans. I always found this band to be somewhat unsure of what they wanted to be - sometimes out-and-out prog, sometimes art rock or pomp, also pop & 'straight' rock at other times. Maybe my biggest 'issue' is with DeYoung's vocals, I'm just not crazy about his voice. Not as bad as say REO Kevin Cronin's (the way he phrases what he sings really rubs me the wrong way) but still...
