I tested this thing and found one very funny thing (basically = its FM is not working and is very weird) - if you turn damping off while going 600kph, roll the plane 180deg and pull max neg G - it will do cobra but…. backwards. And you can even perform “bell” manoeuvre that way and even easily recover from it if you’ve done it at altitude over 700m

The r77 t e c h n i c a l l y has less range than the amraam. But in practice, its mostly placebo. I've dug through the code and ran multiple tests on the 77, and found that it doesn't fall more than a second or 2 behind the amraam until after the 20 second mark. Which by that point it basically doesn't matter, because you're not hitting anything with any fox 3 after 20 seconds of hang time. Or at the very least not against sim players.

However, it literally does have more range. Dunno how you tested it but it does have more range. If both 77 and Aim are head-on, the 77 would get into Aim's range before and get fired. If 77 doesn't maneuver, dead, if he does, no clean shot on the Aim, and if it has to notch then the Aim is chasing. With a 77 you have to do way more to win than an Aim. Its not placebo, its a reality that it doesnt have the range.

@valeriomilan2485 if all you want to do is force your opponent defensive, that does change things. After reviewing my data, it appears as tho in an r77 vs amraam head-on were both fire at the same time, the r77 would be able to safely go pitbull and still defend at about 30-45km. Theres a large amount of variance since there's a ton of variables here. Speed, altitude, cranking vs no cranking. But it should generally be about 30-45km that an r77 can contest an amraam on equal ground. But I see what you mean. An amraam could fire at you from up to 60km away without consequence, so you'll have to get within about ~35 without having any amraam currently on its way to you. Which is technically disadvantageous. But also not that big of a deal in a real match. Especially considering most use people won't spend numerous valuable missiles to try (or at least succeed) to chase you deep into your own territory from 50km away.

At least for us blue side su-34 it's not that all, better radar with those limited R77 doesn't change nothing, even because F-15E with 120B it's a monster, i think it's really time to us blue accept an Su-30SM or even an Su-35 at red side, it's not historical but going to to be balanced (due to still using old Pesa radars and R-77-1 after all it's pretty the same as 120B

We wouldn't need to go as far as SM and ESPECIALLY Su-27M (First generation Su-35) we would do fine with a a Su-27PU (First generation Su-30)

@mangosuppe8706 thats a point, but remember, first generations of both su-30 and 35 don't have any good improvement at radar (both use N011 that's is only an N010 used in Mig-29smt, with bigger antenna) and still using the R-77 that it's undeniable that it's struggling against now aim-120b (and thats is an blue player talking to you), first gen of 30 and 35 only have big improvements at their flight model and aerial refueling, but Su-27 and Mig-29 already are good at Dogfights so I don't think put good dogfighters are going to change red problems at now, sad to us blue players ussr players needs now at least an N011M radar and at least make an buff at R-27ERs that now are unable to hit their max apeed at low alts due to "balance reasons"

@ValadarishUR I think what a lot of people don't know is Su-27SM and MiG-29SMT along with Su-27PU and Su-27M can use the R-77-1 which is infinetely better because it actually has a booster unlike the R-77 making the grid find not as problematic as they are, realising that the R-27EA wouldn't be produced
