I started off at 300+ pounds and now going down and in my 220’s and counting and started running recently and just competed in my first 5K and got 29:57 time at a 9:44 pace and I DID NOT STOP RUNNING the entire time and I’m stoked about it. As a longtime runner myself, I understand that there is a MASSIVE difference between a 4 hour marathon vs. 3:30 vs. your sub-3 vs. this incredible 2:48 in Buffalo. I've often found in my racing, whether it's a 5K or 100M ultramarathon, that the overall number just sounds like a number that doesn't mean much. But then when you break down the splits of what that means, you see people's eyes get big. Put another way, there are so few runners who can even run 6:20 pace for a 5k (roughly a 19:40 5k time). You just did that for an entire marathon. I also appreciate the way you rallied with the hamstring cramp. I've been in that spot myself between mile 22 and 24 and had to stop and stretch. You controlled your mind brilliantly there--because it's so easy to make it almost an existential crisis. You're seeing your goal potentially slip away and it makes you question not only running but other things you're pursuing in life. It can spiral. You still finish, but you can lose minutes those last few miles. You avoided that and found that next level. None of us will ever know how it felt or what you were thinking in that moment, and it's amazing to be on the journey with you through the video--which really highlights that accomplishing an endurance feat like this isn't all sunshine and rainbows...otherwise it would just be about talent and fitness and not the mental component.

I recently run my first marathon and it took me 4hr56 to finish. I made many mistakes in training and on actual race day. Even though I’m still proud of finishing it, you taught me that I haven’t put nearly enough work/discipline to expect a good result, however if I do, which I will, I can do much better. We all start somewhere, and we can all reach a goal which makes ourselves proud by putting in the work 🤗

Retired last year from the Corps and found my love for distance running. I’ll be running my first marathon in two weeks- the Marine Corps marathon and excited to get it on. I caught your series late so I stuck to my original training plan but here’s to adjusting and improving for next year! Thanks for the inspiration and Semper Fidelis!

This is the definition of grit. Nick, you were on a mission, and there was nothing that was going to stop you. If you really want to challenge yourself, I’d want to see you run without those Vaporfly’s.

Your whole team is so inspiring. I ran my first marathon last May and my time was 5:12:02. I’ve got in to next May’s marathon and I’m training to run it in under 5 hours. I always come to your videos for motivation, especially when I have a 10+ mile run coming up. Love you all

This is gonna be epic. One of the coolest things about NB is that he leads his company “from the front.” He sets the tone, plans strategically, and executes decisively. What a great example for other founders/CEOs.

Thanks for your Sub 2:50 series Nick, I ran my second half marathon this past Saturday, and ended up PRing by 12 minutes! (from 2:16 to a 2:04). Everything felt smooth, I was smiling, and I was able to kick hard the last 200m. I'm sore now lol but being smart, consistent, and having fun with my training was what enabled me to perform well (relative to my ability). I Have been a fan since 2018, and your videos always motivate and educate me when it comes to growing in endurance sports, and also in positive work ethic.
