As a longtime runner myself, I understand that there is a MASSIVE difference between a 4 hour marathon vs. 3:30 vs. your sub-3 vs. this incredible 2:48 in Buffalo. I've often found in my racing, whether it's a 5K or 100M ultramarathon, that the overall number just sounds like a number that doesn't mean much. But then when you break down the splits of what that means, you see people's eyes get big. Put another way, there are so few runners who can even run 6:20 pace for a 5k (roughly a 19:40 5k time). You just did that for an entire marathon. I also appreciate the way you rallied with the hamstring cramp. I've been in that spot myself between mile 22 and 24 and had to stop and stretch. You controlled your mind brilliantly there--because it's so easy to make it almost an existential crisis. You're seeing your goal potentially slip away and it makes you question not only running but other things you're pursuing in life. It can spiral. You still finish, but you can lose minutes those last few miles. You avoided that and found that next level. None of us will ever know how it felt or what you were thinking in that moment, and it's amazing to be on the journey with you through the video--which really highlights that accomplishing an endurance feat like this isn't all sunshine and rainbows...otherwise it would just be about talent and fitness and not the mental component.

For anyone that has ever run a marathon and hit that wall hard, the point in the video with his hamstring will make you cry. This video reminiscences my marathon and makes me eager to race my next one at the end of October. Here’s to the next 5 months of training and all the ups and downs I will experience. I love this sport!

Sebastian that's the tough part. I'm with you -- I've been knocked to the pavement by hamstring cramps on more than one occasion at 20+ miles in. No fun! Best of luck in October.

Hi Nick and team. I don’t know if you’ll see this but I just wanted to say that I ran my first marathon yesterday in 2:59:11 and I would never have been able to achieve this without your content. The example you set is inspirational and the training advice from this series made my sub 3 hour target possible. Keep up the great work!

This series inspired the hell out of me and I just signed up for the Dallas Marathon! Wife is going to do the half. This is my first marathon and I am looking to finish sub 3:30. This training along with your app will help me through. Excited to get out there! Go One More.

Dear Nick, I just ran my first marathon this weekend and thanks to this video and your inspiring podcast I managed to pull through! When I watched this two months ago I decided to bring two tablets of electrolytes along the race. It was a very rainy day and I probably hit the first 30k off a bit to fast when an upcoming cramp hit me at 32k. It immediately disappeared after I took a tablet. I probably also didn’t drink enough water, a lot of lessons learned after my first marathon! 💪

Been subscribed to Nick's channel for sometime now. I am positive if he weren't exercising and weight lifting he'd be hooked on hard drugs. He just has this addictive personality that can't have enough of anything.

I’m headed off to Navy Officer Candidate School in September, and I just want to thank you for this series. Watching you show what it takes to push through boundaries and achieve goals, motivates me to go out there and put forth the work. Than you sir!

For any athlete, Nick is a huge inspiration. I'm a cricket player and insha Allah I make it pro. But following Nick's journey inspires me all the more in terms of my preparation for every match and every season. He's a real one

My daughter was my initial motivation For weight loss journey but you, your channel and your team helped drive me to losing 150 pounds by adapting the hybrid lifestyle. I’m not training for any specific goals other than to be the best version of me. Thank you nick and bpn!

I started prepping for my first marathon 4 months ago and for the first 2 weeks was going all out on every run I did, and killed myself on the 2 long runs I did. I decided to see if KZbin had something for an amateur runner training for a marathon, and I found this series. I immediately switched my training regimen and now I’m ready to run my sub 3:15 this weekend for my first ever. Thank you for showing me how to prep right!

Now THAT is an official sub 2:50! I was the one that commented your sub 3 hour was a marathon distance but not an "official marathon" but this right here...that's the real deal and not one person in this world can say otherwise. Congratulations and well deserved accomplishment!

Man Nick is so inspirational. I was a little star-struck not only getting to meet him but also running with him for the first hour of the race before he took off and got the best of me lol. Thank you for inspiring us with your hard work and work ethic, Nick. Very cool to see myself in your youtube video being seen by thousands of people🙂.

I know I’m not the only one, and you guys get this all the time but you guys are an inspiration to me. And you help me to have discipline. I just now got back into working out and running. I want to be an inspiration like that to my wife and baby on the way. Thank you for what you’ve done for my family!

This was your best video yet. Pretty amazing to see the differences in race time over these last few years, I had no idea your journey into running was so recent!
