I just finished watching "The Substance." What can I say? I loved it!

So much thought and care was put into every aspect of this film beyond the story. The sets, the shots, the music, the sound effects. A masterful performance by Dennis Quaid, Demi Moore, and Qualley. Unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Soo, soo good!

Demi Moore had really botched plastic surgery few years ago, which was fixed this year. She got too many fillers and was posted in all the plastic surgery disasters pictures. I wonder if this movie was inspired from that.

Ironically, Demi Moore played her real self in this movie. I guess it's very difficult to resist the desire to rejuvenate yourself to look as good as your colleagues/rivals. 'Looking good' (not necessarily younger) on the screen/stage requires a lot of effort and often equals surviving or even succeeding as you age so we shouldn't blame them for. We have to accept the sad fact that we all react more positively to younger performers and this is all of us who provoked this tendency.

Disgusting and, at the same time, hilarious. I had very mixed feelings nearer the end of the movie. Personally, not a fan of horror movies. Demi Moore and Margaret (the younger self) did a great job.
