Considering it's a body-horror/genre film by a female French director who's making her sophomore film on a much more wild scale than her already-bonkers previous film... More or less, yea. The only thing that would confirm it is if it wins the Palme D'Or.

You mentioned similar to Requiem for a dream, the scene when her therapist takes her out to dinner, and he's eating the steak... I thought, this is Dennis Quaid in this film And in Requiem it's the actor from pi, with Jennifer Connelly at dinner Same grotesque, same angles etc

Will I bring my parents you asked? Why yes, yes I will! I brought my mom to the opening week of “Night of 1000 corpses”. During the middle of the film, she proceeded to squirm in her seat and look all around the theater. I asked her what she was doing. She said, “I want to look at all the other idiots who spent money on this movie “! Two guys sitting next to her hysterically started laughing!😂 But The Substance looks awesome. All the actors are good ,but if your not into body horror and just want a good film it might seem over the top.Great camera angles and close ups make film feel special, but once the gore kicks in the director goes to the max to show details of gore ,entrails etc some are into as much gore as possible please, not me under all that was a good concept overshadowed by gore and SFX.
