After I visited other cities, I also realized how fast MARTA goes compared to them. It's much faster than other systems. I just got back from Toronto and the subway there was super slow.

MARTA was not built for the purposes of regional commute nor local commute. It's specifically for the multiple convention centers, the multi purpose arena and the football stadium. This is why all lines have the exact same origin. It's for the tourists, out of town business people and sports enthusiasts. It takes you exactly where it was designed to once you fly into the Atlanta Airport.

It is 2019 and MARTA should be twice as big as it is. In 1990, Atlanta had about 40 miles of rail transit and Denver and Dallas/Ft. Worth had 0 each. Today, Atlanta has 50 miles (including streetcar) while Denver has 90 (light rail and commuter rail) and DFW has 175 (light rail, commuter rail, and streetcar). In 2023, Denver plans to have about 110 miles while DFW will have 200....Atlanta will still be at 50 (and the traffic will still be hell and getting worse).

MARTA was originally planned to be much bigger by now but politics has stopped most efforts to expand. To put it bluntly too many suburbanites have the attitude of "I don't want that train bringing ghetto Blacks out to my nice White World." and keep voting down referendums. And while Atlanta is liberal the state of Georgia is mostly run by hillbilly Republicans that don't want to spend a penny of State money on MARTA.

Unruly kids that the unfit parent don't care to control with the long ass stretch limo baby strollers that takes up space, the bad-mouth cursing, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. Also, when your train is labeled a Doraville Train, yet you end up in North Springs because the train operator fails to tell it's riders (the customers). Or they don't change the sign.
