Failure will not disqualify you, but _refusing to even try_ will. Perfection is not the standard, no one can live up to that. But we must always remain humbly dedicated to following Christ, no matter how many times we fall away or fall apart. If simply following Him is somehow too difficult in your mind, try to follow Him. If trying to follow Him is out of your reach mentally, TRY to try to follow Him. If you lack the will, pray for the will, or pray that you would _want to_ want to follow Him. God will meet each one of us wherever we will receive Him. There are no legitimate excuses for not doing whatever is in our limited power, even if it is only the smallest baby step - Christ Himself tells us that an amount of faith as small as a tiny seed can move mountains. On Judgement Day, none of us will be judged on how we "felt" about things, or what reasons we told ourselves for not trying or not believing, or whatever excuses seemed reasonable to us at the time - we will instead be judged by what we DID and DIDN'T do. How we felt or thought about things will be painfully irrelevant and shockingly embarrassing to us, when we are finally facing a loving God of infinite glory, who sacrificed Himself for us personally, yet all we did for Him was worry or whine about lacking proper motivation or conviction.
