I understand the concept. Another method for this training would be to sprint 100 meters in a gas mask and full gear, then fire (if you can see when the lenses fog up) while still wearing the mask. I disagree with comments that this wouldn't make it hard to hit a target at two meters. Consider that most police shootings dating back to the 70's have a hit ratio ranging from 10-48 percent, most at ranges from 1-10 feet. This drill helps recreate the body's reaction to stress, adrenalin, uncertainty, surprise, ect... without actually having someone shoot back at you. Good awareness tool, though I wouldn't try it at home myself. Remember this is tactical, not home defense.

2 reasons. one it cuts down visibility more and 2 it cuts oxygen completely where the gas mask on its own does not. this is an extreme stress drill

I dont know what battlefield will have no oxygen. Maybe mars. Also, combat fatigue and vigorous running followed by holding your breath to control recoil is the closest thing to being deprived of oxygen. They are temporary and not that dangerous. Putting yourself at risk by putting a plastic bag over your head is downright stupid in my honest opinion and should never be attempted.

Very tough exercise, you can alway try having some one hitting you in the stomach of diaphragm causing loss of air from lungs and try and fire at your target while gasping , almost like taking a small round in lvl 1 vest

Firstly 5 mags and I didn't have to rewind this time. Secondly I can see the point in this drill there may be situation where you are out of breath in confined spaces where oxygen levels are low. I get that it's important to know your limits. I know my level I'm not an operator.

this is high level military style training not your average training at the range for a basic self defense situation. There is a lot of highly dangerous training for spec ops that would be considered way too dangerous on a normal civilian range even those training people for self defense situations. This includes situations where a mate is in front of you and you have to shoot past him to hit the target. In war there is no such thing as gun safety when engaging a target

ummm... you restrict yourself not only from the oxygen, but from the rest of elements that in the air too. Actually there is only 20% of Oxygen in the air. 78% of nitrogen and rest 2% is other gases :)

He is? Oxygen is used as a global term for air. What this exercise is doing is reducing air coming in and out of your respiratory system. Besides, how can you only reduce one factor?
