Starro had more than one line though but that is the most impactful line in the film to me. -- it's been made clear that I misunderstood the "with a single line" sentiment. Apologies. I wonder if anyone felt bad for starro when starro says the Thinker had been torturing them (and maybe if hearing starro's last line made them feel bad in retrospect)?

Actually did have fun shutting my brain off for this movie, it earned it's suspension of disbelief. This actually felt like a fun, irreverent, ensemble anti-hero movie. The starfish was a McGuffin, the real Justice League could have swooped in at anytime if it became a problem, easy to kill. But it was the data that was the real climax, even has the most intense fight of the movie, and where the limits of the team are broken. I think that was actually a clever bit of writing, and it made its impact bc of the chemistry the team is given throughout the movie. B movie, and that's a compliment compared to what I think of the rest of the DC films in the last decade.

I watched this movie on a plane, all the absurd violence blood and gore was there but no one swore. EVER. @@jlupus8804 well I think you could technically still count The Suicide Squad as part of DCEU as it's a soft continuation of the first one but to me given that the tone of it was 100% different to other movies with the R rating, there never was a plan to tie it in with PG-13 Justice League other than few easter eggs in Peacemaker. Then you have Joker and The Batman which are completely standalone movies, not sure what's the deal with Black Adam but with Cavill, Afleck and now Miller gone I don't think we will see more of shared universe in DC.

You know, the idea that “anyone can die at any time” doesn’t really work when, outside the opening, no one important dies until the climax. Maybe instead of killing off the entire decoy squad in one scene, they could’ve killed Blackguard, Javelin, and Savant to show they mean business then kept Boomerang, Mongal, and TDK around to pick off over the course of acts 2 and 3, because as is, up until the bombs go off in Jottunheim kicking off the climax, it doesn’t feel like the squad are in any actual danger.

@@owenharries3897 That's kind of the point, not just of the movie but of the original Ostrander Suicide Squad run. It's a group of b-list supervillain losers who are _all_ broken and damaged. Most of them are laughed at when they're getting pummelled by Batman or the Flash, but Suicide Squad showed that when they weren't facing superheroes, were given competent leadership, and were allowed to use their powers to their fullest extent, they became absolutely terrifying and effective.

I felt like the movie was a mixed bag, but for as tonally inconsistent as it was, I actually enjoyed the fact that Waller's subordinates undermined her and took control of the situation to help the squad save people rather than have Waller seem completely untouchable like she's usually depicted. I also *really* liked the philosophical clash of Peacemaker and Flag fighting one-another. Usually, the idea of doing something at the cost of morality feels like it's there just for the sake of conflict, but here it's actually a *shockingly* real idealogical confrontation: Covering something up for the sake of short term peace and stability with the hope that outrage dies out if it ever surfaces, or reveal the truth because it's the right thing to do even if that compromises your nation's reputation and credibility. There's a clear right answer, but the former has often been the standard operating procedure for *MILLENIA* so a character embodying that here feels like one of the most organic kind of double-cross/philosophical conflicts that could arise from a situation like that. German concentration camps, Unit 731, the Soviet Union burying things like the sub that almost nuked America during the Cuban missile crisis and various details prior to and following the Chernobyl disaster, *several* governments suppressing information about the "Spanish" Flu during WWI, The Tuskegee Experiment, Trump attempting to undermine testing efforts and downplay Covid to help his upcoming election, the entire USA "plan" to invade -Iraq- Afganistan, etc. Even if you don't live in a full-on dictatorship like North Korea, governments lying/suppressing information at the expense of moral decency for the sake of convenience and not tarnishing their reputation is something that has been part of human society pretty much for as long as there has *BEEN* human society. It's ironically probably the most understandable yet definitively and unambiguously villainous idealogical clash since I've seen since goddamn Lord of War! So props to the writer(s) for that.
