The 'Sulzers Return' 45118(D67) Is Back On The Main Line!!

On this day the West Midlands saw three railtours in quick succession.
Although all were filmed at various locations (other two to follow later • More 'RAILTOUR ACTION'... ), this was personal to me and despite being brief it deserved to be published seperately.
In my early youth I was fortunate to be a BR fireman/2nd man during the 60's transition from steam to diesel. Based at Saltley (21A/2E) in Birmingham. These wonderful locomotives were to become the mainstay of the express trains on the SW/NE corridor which formed a lot of our passenger work.
Having had that experience and very often in the 'left seat' (including this D67 when it was green) over the same route, today certainly renewed those memories for me and no doubt so many of my former collegues who are still my friends.

Indeed John and great to see her 'back on home ground'... Yes an often daily event for me too and knowing the feeling of powering through the tunnels (without breaking sweat on a 5X) is something that is etched on my brain forever!! Regards, Brian.

Thanks Mike, yes Five Ways like all the XCity stations is pretty risky otherwise. Only needs a minute either way. They only knew it from 78 when it was rebuilt..... I only remember it's original foundations Lol!! Regards, Brian. PS, Aston Is a nightmare too 😂.

Yes mate, lovely to see 'D67' on the mainline especially on our old stamping ground. And, I'm sure that given the chance we could do it again just like riding a bike eh!! Elbow on the handle & wide open..... Yikes, I'm getting goosebumps 😍.
