Y'know, I was kinda expecting him to keep going at work just long enough to discover that he was the scribe that misfiled "Needs Repair" as "Repaired" because he had just started at the Administratum and made a clerical error - partially because he was new, and partially from an attitude that the work was less important. The fact that I'm always guessing which Chaos god will be the one influencing these stories and gets me imagining different ways they might get involved just shows how every human being who turns away from the Emperor is a soul competed for by the Chaos gods. It's just a matter of how the individual chooses to interpret the situation that determines which Chaos god will be let in. I imagined Khorne coming in, granting this guy the power to slaughter those who had wronged him. I imagined Nurgle reuniting him with his family by dragging them all into his garden. I imagined Slaanesh luring him in with the pleasure his family gave him, only to give him greater pleasures to make him forget them. With Tzeentch though, I wasn't expecting this at all, which to be fair is to be expected with Tzeentch.

Dunno... Tzeentch can actually be quite funny a lot of times, and if you don't want him to screw with you - make sure that you do entertaining things. However, for the other gods: Khorne: Will, quite quickly, give you super human strength, indeed. He will, also, completely break your mind, and turn you into nothing but a mindless butcher who is incapable of thinking about anything other than slaughter. Nurgle: Does this really need to be explained? You become nothing more than a shambling, rotting corpse. Infected with more diseases than science could identify, having to hold your rotting liver and intestines inside your body. Every time you sit on a chair, and go to stand up, you leave your own scabs and flesh stuck to the chair, dripping with bacterial slime and puss. If, even for the smallest instant, you accidentally encounter a blank, saint, Grey Knight, Astartes Chaplain, etc etc - your connection to Nurgle will be severed. In that instant you suddenly feel the maggots and grubs crawling inside your body, all of the symptoms of the different diseases finally strike, the necrosis that is half of you, etc. Slaanesh: He drives you to experience more and more extreme versions of anything that you even slightly liked the thought of. In quite short order you find yourself to be a walking horror story, and even then he won't be happy enough to stop strengthening the drive inside of you that forced you ever deeper into depravity. All because he is nourished by the pain and suffering that you put both yourself and your victims. Tzeentch?: Likes to 'prank' people, and might turn you into a Chaos Spawn if you stop entertaining him. However, should you actually set out to accomplish something, have a plan for it, do your best to execute said plan, and be flexible enough to toss the plan out - still moving forward toward the goal - if it starts to go sideways? Tzeentch is quite likely to simply empower you to help out.

Well - a great deal of higher ups in the Imperium really _do_ care about the people in the Imperium. The unfortunate part is that they simply _can't_ do anything about that care. They have to make decisions that are the best decisions, or as close to best as they can get, for mankind as a whole. Do they Exterminatus planets due to a lack of care for those on that world? No. They do it so that things will not spread from that world to a thousand others. When you actually read the novels you see that even the most bloody minded of Inquisitors ask for forgiveness, or simply cry, when they issue a death warrant for whole worlds. _(Most of them, at least. Some never question what they feel they have to do.)_ The Imperium actually manages to keep over a million worlds fed, supplied, and cared for medically/mentally. The stories we get by way of novels and short short stories are the most extreme outlying events. That's _why_ there are stories like them at all. Thus, yes, some worlds are absolute hellholes, some are plagued by marauding xenos, and still others are shell pocked warzonez. However, all of those are less than a drop in the bucket that is the Imperium. Hell - most citizens never see an Astartes in their entire lifetimes. Some few stories take place on the nicer worlds, and usually the conflict that is happening are your basic human activities such as riots, etc.

For those that like to view the Imperium as somewhere that is horrific to live in at all times: There are a million worlds in the Imperium - _most_ worlds never encounter anything like this. Of course the stories that get told are of the most insane, horrific events, but that is because those events are, ultimately, rare in the Imperium. Hell - most human beings in Imperium never see a Space Marine. Let alone some xenos/Chaos horror.

This tbh depends on your luck. If you end up on a Forge or Hive World, you're boned. Fortress World? Boned but slightly less. Feral or Feudal World? Ehhh, usually not much worse than the appropriate periods in our history. Agri-World? Passable. Knight World? Pretty okayish if you're alright with living in feudalism. Paradise or Civilized World? That might actually be pretty good life.

@@Integritys_Sum It's not like that though. It's more like Ghostbusters 2. All the negative emotions created the slime in the sewers. All the goodwill and cheer were barely enough to crack the slime on the museum. The warp is all good + all bad, and there's wayyyyy more bad, thus it is corrupted. You can use the Warp for good, but it will 100% corrupt you if you use it enough or take in more than you can handle. All imperial psykers know they will die in battle or get mercy killed if they start losing their ability to resist the dark influences. The Warp navigators on starships literally wear suicide collars they can self-activate in case they get corrupted mid-flight (bigger ships always bring multiple people for back-up).

It all mixes together haphazardly so that finding a point from which you can call out just the thing you wanted is all but impossible. You won't get just the good, or just the evil, or just anything. You get a writhing ball of emotions that sticks to all it comes in contact with. There is no filter keeping the parts inappropriate out. And the amalgam has no way to steer any part of this either. So what pops out is is an unfettered mess.

I finally started reading The Horus Heresy and got to the Point where Jubal from the Lunar Wolves was possessed by Samus and Captain Lokens got his first contact with the Warp... this Story instantly reminded me how Jubals posssession was described and how utterly insane the manifestations of the warp in real space really are. How reality and how it's perceived by mortals, wether astartes or not, is twisted and (quite literally) warped. As if the grimdark isn't already plagued by war, treachery and despair; everytime the warp just comes along and dials this shit tenfold 😂

The thing about this story is that even though Tzeench might have manipulated events for this to happen, it doesn't diminish the fact that the Emperor does NOT protect - at least not "the little guys." He may provide some miracles to the Sororitas, if that's even him doing it, but the average person isn't even a shadow of a thought for the Emperor. Whatever his past motivations might have been, the Emperor doesn't have mankind's best interests at heart. He wants ORDER, at all costs. He is the embodiment of the opposite of Chaos, but without the same level of power, which is why the Imperium is slowly losing. For all intents and purposes, the Emperor views humanity as a whole as tools, the exact same way the Chaos gods view their followers.

I have a crazy theory for the 2nd or 11th legion. They were is a battle that they couldn’t win against the forces of chaos, accompanied by a brother legion (Lion would be a good choice due to character development lately.) Before the final strike could be dealt, The Lion aimed the ‘ret-con’ gun at the battle field as a final gambit, and blasted the battlefield. In an instant, the battle disappeared, but because it was a primarch that both fired the gun, and got hit by it, a second trigger appeared. The gun wasn’t meant to erase people from history, it was meant to buy them time, and as we know, primarchs are part warp-born, so the gun functioned as it should and bought the others time to prepare. An Avatar of Kane would be a good enemy, and bring the assumed might of the avatars back up from being punching bags. After The Lion’s awakening, he journeys to a far off planet with his arisen, to save his brother when the Imperium needs him most. The second’s primarch holds The Emperor’s value of sacrifice, which is why it had to be him that got lost for 10,000 years. The Lion enters the long forgotten battlefield, with Erabus in-tow. He readies the retcon gun, and, after ten thousand years, readies his blade before pulling the second trigger. The ancient battlefield bursts to life, and The Lion finally gets the chance to save his long lost brother. Hammer and sword and axe clash as El’Johnson’s sword hits his brothers hammer in an attempt to deflect the adversaries axe. An avatar of Khaine, but this fragment is the god’s very heart, far more powerful than any other avatar of the fallen god.

This story perfectly captures the true horror of Grim Dark of the 40K Universe, not only in the way that the Imperium has no regard for its citizens but also in how the Gods bestow their’Gifts’ as yes he was granted his final wish but as the Chaos Gods are not benevolent, in a truly tragic but sickening way as to cause maximum pain and suffering for those unfortunate souls

I’ve gained quite the obsession via yourself reintroducing me to 40K and the worlds upon worlds I had no idea of when I was young and just thought the figures were cool… really wish I knew the stories behind it all back then… I recently saw something about krork’s and started getting interested in the idea of: what if the knowledge of the krork’s were discovered by the Adeptus Mechanicus and Ork’s were then captured to experiment to create a human controlled Krork like creation to fight for the emperor? Something that could be duplicated the same way to Ork’s duplicate themselves and the ability to forge reality becomes useable by humans by being able to control the thoughts of such a creation? This might be too over powered to create a decent story, but firstly it’ll be a very volatile process and probably not so easy to control and possibly turn on humans which would mean it’ll probably never happen as it’ll be similar to the reason for not using AI but if there was a way it could be fitted into the stories it might be a last resort to the looming Tyranid invasion when they start to hyper evolve and become the biggest threat to the universe and everything has to evolve to defeat this. Do you think you could mad hatter a theoretical concept video of what If such things as the Krork’s got re introduced into the 40K line up? Was there another form of the Elder from the time of the Heaven? Is this too much of a taboo subject within the community to get into? Kinda like trying to rewrite the bible or is crazy ideas welcome? Hair brain ideas that can become fuel for inspiration for the writers of Warhammer?

Grimdark story hour is by far my favourite of All the different content types you offer. Dont get me wrong, i love the other stuff too, like the in depth lore. But Story hour.. Nothing is better than laying down, and Listen to the Story. You are really good, and i could Listen for hours

That one was fantastic and although I found its ending fascinating and admittedly a little bit comical, I don't know if I'll be able to cover it considering it's pretty long. I might be able to do it but it would be a much bigger undertaking so I'm going to hold off on it for a little bit just so I don't fall too far behind in my content schedule. I want to cover the wicked in the Damned and each of its three stories are about the same length so if I can pull out off then I'll definitely consider it!
