The thing that makes this stand out to me is that the Briarwoods were well made enough characters that this felt like something they would do and it also felt like something that would happen in real life, particularly for the time period being evoked.

The amount of detail in the series is unbelievable. The way they reference back to the campaign while still keeping it uniquely its own thing, I don't think I've ever seen an adaptation done anywhere near this good.

Matt has such attention to detail. In the campaign he describes Vox Machina as the Briarwoods met them. Pike was not present at the dinner party in Emon, so the Briarwoods didn't know her and did not have someone hang in her place. On the other hand, Tiberius was at the dinner party, so the Briarwoods hung a person and colored it red to resemble the dragonborn sorcerer. Of course, they adapted the show to portray the appropriate figures the Briarwoods met during the dinner party, including Pike instead of Tiberius.

" A tree full of fucked up us?? That is some fucked up shit, thats mean! " As Mercer just shrugs his shoulders, not taking any responsibility for this twisted scene. His answer is always, "thats what the monsters would do!" which is such a great DM answer to sick and demented things they do to horrify a party. I love it. Matt Mercer is one of the GREATEST DMs of all time. I am almost twice his age, have DMed for longer, and I still learn stuff from him to add to my campaigns. Thanks for this video

Oh Boy. I feel sick to my bones and very in awe about this scene everytime I watch it. It's weird. They are all doing really great stuff here. And I mean the original ones AND the series. :D But there's one thing I noticed only now: the side shot of the poor souls hanging from the sun tree show Percys, Keyleths and Vexs lookalike. The next shot is mirrored and shows exactly these 3 in the same order. I really like easter eggs and detailed work. This one just came to me (even after more than one watch of all seasons) and I am not so sure wether I like it or not xD)

The only thing I wish, is that they didn't show the people they were going to put in the tree on TLOVM until after the tree scene, but I suppose if you're telling the story for the first time you don't know what's coming, but most people watching the show know what's coming.
@arcticwulf57962 жыл бұрын
It's a different story telling medium. And its common practice to tell a story by giving the perspective of the antagonist and build up to moments to build tension and build character and have story beat payoffs. It's like the same reason they showed Lady Briarwood raising the shadow/invisible stalkers etc. People watching the show knew something was coming. The characters or players never saw it happen or hear about it happening. Otherwise it would have gone like oh shit we are under attack and then story wise have the characters reconstruct what happened "oh the Briarwood must have sent them" afterwards or it would have been left hanging. I'd rather have the antagonists built up with their point of view in the shows format instead of the characters looking for lore dumps in historic records or sending spies like in the campaign.
@brennag79622 жыл бұрын
There might be a lot of people watching who don't know C1 though. I started part way into C2 and watched most C2 episodes twice (and also TM) but didn't get into C1, and I'm watching with two friends who just like DnD/animated shows. So from our point of view it was horrifying to meet the little girl, assume she was "just" getting eaten or some such, and then see what happened.
