France have bought only 160 Meteor missiles and maybe they have about a similar number of Rafale ( they keep selling them ) so not exactly reliant on huge weapons stocks and MICA is not as capable in range. Hence US always have availability the USN have over 500 F18 SH in service and they are multirole like Rafale M and France has only 41 of similar type.

The acquisition for the entire USAF/USMC/USN JSF fleet is budgeted at $245 Billion just for procurement. You’re saying that not only have we exceeded that, but we’ve more than doubled it. That is poorly-researched and filled with huge errors. Another gross error is the portrayal of the units produced. Over 730 JSF have been produced, not 600. We’ll have the totals for end of November 2021 in a few days. No F-35 costs more than the unit price of an F-22A. Your math is all out of whack. You just posted that each F-35 will cost $833 Trillion. The whole program cost projected over the entire life until 2073 is somewhere around $1.7 to $1.2 Trillion, most of which is Operations & Maintenance costs for the past 15 years combined with the next 52 years, which is really strange for them to do that. We’ve not seen multi service cost guesses like this before. GAO already admitted that they’re using F-16C fleet data to make their estimates, which doesn’t even fit.

But that's only because Dassault have decided to only use radar absorbing material and a few trick here and there to reduce radar cross section where the F-35 uses both absorbing material and geometry to reduce its cross section. But what you don't know or simply ignore is that the Rafale has last generation classified radar and electronic warfare tech that allows to play in the same field as 5th generation aircraft. Also they're not designed for the same focus. Rafale is an air superiority fighter in the first place ! The F-35 is a stealthy strike fighter. So the Rafale doesn't have to rely on stealth as much as the F-35. Also Stealth is overrated in air-to-air combat. Last generation thermic sensors are able to detect planes on fairly large distance just with the difference of temperature with the air friction on the fuselage. So yeah Stealth is great to penetrate foreign airspace, but I highly doubt Switzerland is interested in penetrating foreign airspace. That might be because of something called neutrality.

@@christopheperron1730 Incorrect. Jingoro and this video are wrong. Rafale's top speed is 750 knots, or 1,389 kph CAS when clean configured. It will never achieve anywhere near 1,912 kph even with no external stores. Mach 1.8 is Vne at extremely high altitudes. At these altitudes, the airplane will not even be able to achieve 750 KCAS. You guys need to stop using wiki. Even the F-15 and F-16, two aircraft that are much faster than rafale, can only achieve 800 knots according to the POHs of either aircraft. Ground speed is not relevant in any of these comparisons.

F-35As and Bs have been operating in extreme cold weather for many years now. Norway and USAF in Alaska conduct regular arctic weather operations and have worked the F-35As into the normal alert fighter response taskings. You can watch video of F-35As at the Finnish H-X competition/evaluation taking off and landing right along with all the other fighters present. The US has far more arctic operations experience than any other Air Force in the world, namely from Iceland ADIZ, Alaska, joint operations and material support to Canada, Norway, and Finland. If you look at the small air forces in Canada, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, they would only account for a few squadrons in the USAF and represent equivalent numbers of units that have been operating in extreme cold conditions since the 1950s. The US also has the best, most comprehensive extreme environmental condition chamber in Florida that can create arctic to Sahara-like conditions. The JSF variants were all subjected to extreme testing protocols in that facility before production configuration was finalized. There isn’t another fighter on the earth today that has been subjected to the level of extreme environmental testing as the JSF series have. When you talk about flying through storms, I realize you’re not a pilot and have zero relevant experience in that area. As a rule, ALL aircraft avoid flying through storms if they can help it because the air currents are extremely unpredictable. I’ve been flying since the 1970s. Making a flight plan is always highly-dependent on the weather, no matter what you fly.

It’s not about the top speed that counts. It’s how quickly you can get there. The Rafale is seriously quick, only the f22 raptor and eurofighter can match it in climb rate, acceleration and agility. It’s Spectre ew suite which, amongst other ew functions, reduces its RCS by several orders of magnitude ( ie enhancing its stealth capabilities), is fully functional , unlike the f35 ew suite which has been plagued by several expensive malfunctions and is still not fully functional . Its the only fighter jet that carries 1,5 times its own weight , with an unmatched range and combat radius . A land and carrier based plane , proven in combat. With the new Rafale f4 been launched soon its gonna be unmatched by anything else in the skies , except maybe the f22 raptor . The Rafale has edged out the f22 in several combat exercises btw . The Rafale is certainly my choice

You are incorrect on a number of points. The Rafale's exact climb rate is not a known quantity, with Wikipedia only citing zoom climb figures. It's thrust to weight ratio is nothing special, especially when loaded thanks to its underpowered engines. There is no performance chart available for you to be making comparisons to F-16s. You are literally making these performance claims up out the clear blue. It's nonsense. F-35's range is far superior to Rafale. Rafale C holds 10,362 pounds of fuel internally, F-35A holds 18,498 pounds of fuel. In reality, Rafale can only compete with the F-35's range with 3 external fuel tanks, while F-35 can afford to fly on internal fuel only. This will decrease the Rafale's usable weapons payload and performance due to drag. The F-35's combat radius according to a lockheed presentation is 760nm on internal fuel only with 4 AIM-120s. Rafale can fly up to 896nm combat radius in equal configuration. The difference is... The rafale needs 3 2000L tanks to do this. With 2 external tanks, the F-35A would be able to fly SIGNIFICANTLY farther Rafale C, the longest ranged variant of the Rafale. The F-35A doesn't even have the best range out of the 3 variants, the F-35C does. In addition to this, Rafale is far outclassed in terms of payload capacity:The F-35 has 10 usable hardpoints, 4 internal, 6 external, and a maximum payload of 22,000 pounds.Rafale has 20,900 pounds of payload and 14 hardpoints. Lets dig a little bit deeper though. 2 of Rafale's hardpoints are dedicated to poded electronics that F-35 has integrated into the airframe. That leaves Rafale with 12 usable weapons hardpoints, but wait... Rafale's internal fuel capacity and combat radius is very small as I stated before. WIth 3 external fuel tanks, it is using 2 wing hardpoints, and the centerline tank takes up 2 hardpoints. This leaves Rafale with only 8 usable weapons hardpoints in a long range configuration. F-35 in a long range configuration need only use internal fuel, giving it 2 more weapons hardpoints. F-35's strike capability is superior. Spectra does not reduce RCS. This is based on the assertion that spectra uses "active stealth" or active cancellation. This is a fictitious capability. The origin of the claim is from Bill Sweetman, a Jane's editor who supposedly interviewed a Thales employee who would not reveal the nature of Rafale's EW systems. Rafale does not have active cancellation technology, this is merely conjecture. It has active deception/ DRFM jamming which is also found on the F-35's ASQ-239 (albiet, the F-35 is far more powerful thanks to its much larger jamming array) and even the Northrop ALQ-131 jamming pod often equipped on F-16s and A-10s... You have also failed to cite any of the issues with the asq-239. It's like you Rafale fanboys straight up lie. The Rafale never "edged out" in combat exercises against the F-22, despite the HUD footage you french constantly link and assert resulted in a kill. The official report confirmed six WVR engagements, only one of which resulted in a gun kill. An F-22 killed the Rafale in fact, and the leaked HUD footage could have been the two aircraft passing the engagement floor. Again, do your research. Here's something interesting: in 2008 during Frisian Flag, a single German F-4 Phantom managed to kill FIVE Rafales.

Rafale is MULTIROLE thank you for that and not saying OMNIROLE which is a marketing phrase. Rafale is capable and versatile but not cheap given Gripen and F35 are way cheaper. Rafale is ITAR FREE so available but Egypt don't have F18 so not sure if it trained there. But certainly Super Hornet and Rafale M get to play on exercise. F22 is an Air Superiority specific masterpiece but sucks at other tasks and if you need to cover different scenarios you look elsewhere. Combat Proved is a term that F15 and F16 can state in they have performed AA combat and won along with ground attack etc Rafale has some experience but not in AA combat. We are now moving into new generation aircraft B21 is beginning initial training and F22 replacement is not likely far away the USN will be doing something different the first thing to become unnecessary will be the pilot. The Rafale is a great looking jet while F35 is ugly and deserves its name Fat Amy.

Greetings from Finland... First I have to say that two (from the intented four) F-35s arrived in Finland... late... horrible storm in Atlantic and trouble with the air tanker... in Finland only one was allowed to fly the tests. Why, I don't know, but it wasn't the temperature. F-35s fly well in Alaska... that said... The Rafale worked fine and is a very capable (and quite beautiful) piece of engineering... and with Meteors has impressive A2A reach... but... Finland has a big inventory of US-made weapons (JASSMs, AMRAAMS etc...) which dont go well with Rafale... Should we abandon those and buy a whole new palette of weapons (admittedly probably with equal efficiency)? And... We are not looking for an air supremacy fighter... we are looking into which solution gives best performace in multitudes of missions (including pinpointing ground and marine targets to other weapon systems.) Right now Finnish Defence Forces are playing war games to find out what system fits best for our needs. And the needs list is long... All five (and all fine) candidates will be ruthlessly analyzed in many different scenarios. The task isn't easy and there really isn't a way to know who will win... AND... Dont try to hack into FDF:s computers to find out... All documents concerning the HX-Programme are being written with legacy mechanic typewriters to prevent that...

Max speed for F35 is only theorical, for now postcombution induce overheat of the engine, and is not adviced. Max payload on the F-35 annihilate its first furtivity advantage. This is a good thing to avoid the maintenance's costs, like 871 others problems knowned, some criticals, nice to avoid Alis then Odin technical's problems, absence of sovereignty for foreigns buyers of these systems, and a lot, lot, so much more.

Post combustion is prohibited only on b and c version for more than 1 minute. This is a trade off for stealth coating preservation on the tail. In any case, Post combustion is never used for longer that that in combat situation because it litterally burns all the fuel.

F-35 has been much better for a long time lol. This video is inaccurate. The only time Rafale is preferable is for countries like India; they are not NATO and not always aligned with the US's interests. France is pretty ITAR free compared to the US. Besides that, F-35 has the Rafale beat in every area, even cost. It's CPFH is pretty much the same, and the unit price of F-35 is lower. Hell, I would generally prefer the F-16V to Rafale F3R. Just my 2 cents.

F35 has built in targeting pod, 360° Radar , large internal fuel, true stealth shape and entrained air masking on its jet exhaust, powerful EW capabilities. Basically it can fly high in thin air because it's hard to track so it uses less fuel. Rafale has pylons full of missiles fuel tanks etc has a small AESA radar with 838 TRs it has parasitic drag and a big RCS ( it is never clean ) and no 2 way data link with Meteor. It's not a comparison between honour or design or pilots but a different generation. ME 262 was unreliable and killed many German pilots but it was the nemesis of piston engine fighters like P51 Mustang etc. FCAS will be more capable as it will be ' up to date ' evolution is the winner.

The F35 is an ugly fat penguin but Rafale won't see it coming and the first it knows of the danger is when a AIM 120 D flies into it. Yes the gust is more agile but it can't outturn a AIM 9 X either. So the Rafale has about a 5% chance of defeating a F35. Sorry but that is why a 5th generation is always a nightmare for 4th generation.
