We now continue with the inner workings of the "top end", and the experimentation done by Tom Jobe and Bob Skinner. Enjoy... Bill Pitts A fan.

One thing becomes very clear, that Tom Jobe is a very respectable man. Whenever someone would kinda laugh and joke about someone or something else, he doesn't go along. He checks up and says something like"....ahh...they were just trying something different.....". Never says a cross word about anyone, I love and respect that.

Absolutely delighted you are back with the Surfer's story Bill, we very much hope your problems are satisfactorily resolved. I have been intrigued by the Surfer's story for years now, and now doing my best to convey their wisdom to another (younger) generation! Our very best wishes from the UK..

Thanks for all that you do Bill. I have listened for hours on your other videos as i wait for another surfers episode. Sometimes nodding off after a few hours and replaying what i nodded off to (Don Prieto currently). what an awesome way to preserve history!

Bill, Thank you for giving us a glimpse into the early days of front engine fuel dragster pandemonium. Your snapshot in the history predates the Black "I was lucky enough to be in Keith's shop and watch him turn out those Billet blocks and visit Henry's axles, etc" Rodeck and different innovators that really changed up the way the fuel teams went. And really you're racing predated fuel teams it was so cool to see the picture of all you gang that was probably behind the Surfers and you guys probably went surfing when you weren't racing and that's what's so cool. Keep em coming... Pat W

If you weren't there this is as good as its going to get. When you watch NHRA drag racing contemplate their budgets. Then think about three guys building this car. Racing it for what? Three years. On a week to week budget. And won Bakersfield. You won't ever see the like of this again.

Glenn Gallup Right you are, Glenn. The team of guys that made this happen feel so fortunate to have been able to obtain this hidden treasure from Tom. We are all very lucky. Next episode in two weeks stay tuned.

Bill Pitts thanks for the memories. I don't know where you were to watch eliminations Sunday at the 66 March Meet. We were about 2/3's of the way down, pit side. Been to the Indy 500, 24 Hours of LeMans and the Italian GP at Monza. But that first round Sunday was special. As were all my trips to Bakersfield.

My question for Tom would be "How many people figured out that the "we don't know much" act was an act?" And how long did it take them? That thing with the blower pins should have tipped somebody off.

A quick question Bill, what year/era is Tom referring to? Edit: I found the answer to my question at 14:25 (1963).

Thanks so much Bill for putting all this together. I really love hearing the history behind what the pioneer hotrodders & drag racers did back in their day. A lot can be learned from these guys, not just in engine building, but their dedication to pursue their goals. You've grabbed a valuable part of history Bill, so thanks for sharing it on KZbin!
