It seems to me the Surfers came from the scientific view to accomplish what they did while others acted more from the seat of their pants. No matter this has been a joy to watch and learn. I got to meet Tom at Barona a childhood dream that came true.

Good talk. Imagine what Garlits was doing at the same time? How about Connie? Those Ramcharger guys were smart too. It didn't start in LA.

No shade cast, honest! I was on the sidelines watching once and this guy named Big Daddy once said "hey kid hand me that wrench!". But the killer was TV Tom asked me and my friend Larry to help let his jet dragster out of the trailer, Fremont '77 or so. God I love drag racing. Thank You!!

Garlits was the first to understand the quantity of fuel needed, but the Surfers understood how to atomize it.

Great job love the series would you be able to ask Tom what he thinks about the speeds of the Nostalgia funny cars and Dragsters and what he would recommend to put a limit on speed or dollar spend on it

Bill, have you ever considered doing a book about the Surfers? Myself and MANY others would buy one for sure!

Barry Postma Hi Barry. Nope. The number of fans out there just isn’t large enough for me to personally write a book. I think what we’ve done here is to provide the raw material necessary for someone else to do something like that. But I would hope they would go through Mr. Jobe on that kind of thing. Tom was nice enough to share his story with us. Anything beyond that would require his approval. And there’s always the hope that “Hollywood” will step up with the funds necessary to produce something really quality about this story. That’s my hope anyway. 🙂

Thanks for the reply. You make a good point about the number of fans that would potentially buy a book on the subject. Still, I`ve told my son (17 years old) this story and he`s most impressed with what these guys did! Anyway, thanks for doing this and thanks Tom for sharing your story with us.

Hey bill, was all this filmed in one sitting? Seems as though it was all filmed around the same time period, either that or someone took very thorough notes on the topic of discussion at the time. As always sir, I love your work, and will be patiently waiting for next Thursday's installment!

John Partlow Hi John. It took several trips to LA from Carlsbad. We would have the guys wear the same clothes whenever possible. But even that was hard to do. It took about a year to shoot.
