Not just that, it's also a vertical video on a horizontal medium. Terrible.

Really interesting topic, but I can't watch something with such a brain rotted editing style. Cheers mate hope you find success.

Vertical format as well. Good video absolutely and completely wasted

Change the subtitles to basic ones + remove zoom in on photos and it’s all good.

Horizontal in vertical in horizontal. We've really come full circle brainrot, plus those subtitles. Wanted to watch this but had to switch off immediately

Dang. As someone born in 1995, this hits home really well. As a kid, I was really into skateboarding and jackass. The white era perfectly encapsulates that idea of debauchery and fun. Moving to Seattle, the Green era is definitely what I think of as typical hipsters. I think it lived a little longer in the Pacific Northwest than 2007. There was definitely overlap with the neon era, but so many people in Washington were the hipster into coffee and nature bicycling types. Hell even I listened to animal collective and indie rock like Wolf Parade. Still love em. The neon era to me felt less hipster (probably because of the continuation of the green era in my state). To me the neon era, like 3 oh! 3 and whatever felt like a bourgeoning collaboration between party culture and emo/scene culture. In the context of this video though I totally see now how it was hipster. I guess I never noticed the gray era. I’m a total normie so it sort of blends in with my lifestyle, minus the social media posting. I can’t help but think there is a relatively new era though. Anytime I visit Seattle or Portland, there’s always the bros that wear nice boots, cuffed dark jeans, a carhart jacket, maybe a beanie and glasses, but definitely a well groomed beard. And they live their local IPAs. Not sure what the female equivalent would be now that Doc Martins are kind of out of style. Good video. Thanks for mentioning Baker. Most people don’t realize how influential skate culture has been.

Hipsters started in Greenwich Village in the 1950s. They revered the "authenticity" of American folk culture, while themselves being urban middle class kids. Bob Dylan was their hero. The cult of "authenticity" and "realness" and appropriation of folk culture is typical of urban hipsters in all eras. When Bob Dylan famously dared to challenge the "rules" of the hipster community of the era, by playing an electric guitar, he was booed and heckled, called "traitor" and "judas".

whoa ive been working on this in CARI - the strange 'americana, trashy 70s culture kitsch' revival/remixed aesthetic was huge in the very late 90s and early 2000s -- never seen anyone else catch onto the specificity of this, like the 70s suburban basement wood paneling thing, cooper black font, stars and stripes like bicentennial kitsch, evel knievel, muscle cars, trucker fads, loud ugly wallpaper ish patterns, flames and kustom kulture, visors headbands and short shorts

Hipsters never existed. There have always been a class of urbane, counter cultural, trend conscious young people. Go watch slackers of you don't believe me. What did (and apparently does still exist) is a hipster fascination/panic. The struggle to define and categorize "hipsters"- just like the identical effort against hippies decades before- represents conservatism using negative space to draw a line around what they aren't.
