The cool jacket has been my go to since middle school. If the jacket is cool, the fit can be basic; add some nice accessories and a nice pair of shoes and you’re good! You could wear and all black outfit, but if the jackets cool enough, the accessories are decent, and are nice, you fit right in anywhere.

Yeah I experimented with lots of different fits and styles throughout college, but once I started having less time or inclination, my experience naturally led me to “cool jacket + basic-ass fit”. You only need three kinds bottoms (shorts/flowy pants, denim, maybe something from cotton drill), two-three kinds of tops (t-shirt, sweater, maybe a button up) and two kinds of shoes (leather boots, flipflops) and you’re literally looking good and feeling comfortable in all 4 seasons. Add some accessories and perfume for variety and you’re out the door knowing you look good in like 5 minutes. I travel a lot and can literally pack for an entire week in my backpack based on this formula as I’m already wearing the most important/heaviest piece on me. It really is a cheat code to feeling good about the fit without needing to do barely any work.

For years and years now, I try to have a cool jacket. I started when I was 15 ish with a leather jacket hand-me-down, when that bad boy started peeling I got a nice chunky denim jacket with all sorts of pins on it. Then I got a bit wider, bit taller, jacket stop looking so chunky and just started looking average. So I got a bigger thicker black denim jacket and all my pins migrated there. Planning on getting the back customized for extra appeal. Jacket can do so much for you!

I pared down my whole wardrobe to a capsule look like 2 years ago. Got rid of a ron of stuff and i just really have staples. BUT I have like 6 different extremely cool jackets that are nice and well made. Its so easy to get dressed in the morning, and so easy to elevate the look in several different directions at a moments notice. You can even get a cool lightweight windbreaker for the summer!

My favorite cool jackets [and ones that get noticed pretty often]: Mid-calf length muted orange jacket that's kinda like a thin trench-coat. The color works well with jeans for complementary fits or with my work uniforms [I wear black and red] for analogous warm fits. It's thin so it has a nice drape-y quality for visual interest, and it has a ton of cinching cords hanging from it for nice motion while moving. An absolutely destroyed split leather welding jacket. Probably toxic because welding fumes. Scorch marks, blown rivets, tatters, burn holes, and color variation goes hard af. Dark grey great coat with black fur lapel and lining. Thrifted for $15. Kinda gives criminal enterprise vibes. Patchwork jacket with a rooster on the back. Looks like a farm tablecloth, people love it. "The Bear". A reversible zip-up brown hoodie with faux fur on one side [I wear it fur out]. It's a 5XL. I'm 5'10", 235 lbs. It ends just above my knees and the sleeves do this chonky shar pei-looking thing with the elastic cuffs keeping them from sliding over my hands. It ends up having this thick, aggressive looking silhouette. It reminds me of early bling-era style. Bonus points because my partner can use it as a blanket if cold.

I remember my metalhead cousin's battle jacket. for the uninitiated, a battle jacket is a denim and/or leather jacket combo that is completely covered with band patches, spikes, etc. It must have weighed 15lbs and stank for the inability to wash it, but it was one of the key factors that led my future musical tastes. Nothing looked so badass and anti-social as a huge SLAYER backpatch with a demon next to a pentagram. I tried making a battle jacket later in high school, but I just didn't have the resources or fashion sense. Oh well.

to me cool jacket is something that we wear over and over again, doesn't look brand new, perhaps a little fading or discoloring, and with some personalization like a badge or a pin, but don't make it overly done, brand new leather jacket or denim or nylon, etc won't look cool no matter what. I think a leather jacket is the best option for your cool jacket, because everyone would likely wear varsity or bomber or trucker and you would be just one of them, but leather jacket is different when you are the only one, you would be the coolest, and when more of leather jacket wearers around you would be among the cool people.

Jackets are maybe the most important clothing piece, to have multiple different ones so you don't look boring. Even more so than shoes or hoodies etc., because the same hoodie can be pimped with different cool jackets.

I've thought about this a lot, I love the statement cool jacket. There's a problem though, how to wear a cool jacket inside and outside. If it's cold outside, I need a sweater under my jacket, but then I get too hot when I'm inside , so I have to take of the jacket, and then my fit is boring.
