On another interview a couple of weeks ago, Dr. P suggested taking Quercetin. I have been suffering from gout lately. I already follow a low carb diet, along with tart cherry extract, celery seed extract and after adding Quercetin just for 2 weeks I have noticed a huge change. I no longer get those dreaded swellings of my toes or ankle. I also have less aches and pains in my joints.

Usually, I'm 5 years ahead of everyone in longevity research. I even knew we were getting stuck into a cycle where our bodies were preparing for 'hibernation' via an evolutionarily conserved mechanism that causes us to pack on fat. Yes, what we evolved from hibernated like Bears. I just had no idea the exogenous signalling molecule involved; Uric Acid. Thank you. You provided something novel and new to me. This is not something that happens often. P.S High Frucose Corn Syrup also smashes the 5 pentose phosphate pathways, causing a surge in advanced glycation end products. It also destroys nutrient sensing in regard to Phosphate/Calcium Balance in the blood, which leads to a whole range of disorders.(hardening arteries, certain forms of arthritis, mitochondrial dysfunction, etc) This is why Ca-AKG is so useful. It restores nutrient sensing and Calcium/Phosphate Balance in the blood stream, correcting secondary hyperparathyroidism, which is driven by said nutrient sensing dysfunction.
@darkhorseman8263

P.S the Amino Acid Leucine regulates insulin production in the body, but only when it teams up with Phosphate, or Acetyl-Phosphate, another important exogenous signalling molecule like Uric Acid. When your body loses the ability to sense phosphorus level in the blood, it stops teaming up with Leucine. Maybe you can now see the cascading failures that are the result of High Fructose Corn Syrup.

I saw Dr. Perlmutter talking about Moringa. Been growing 10 years in Jacksonville. I am working woth guy that has developed a press to extract fresh leaves so was using from my trees. Makes concentrated juice and is ounce daily. This stuff amazing and even had friend having bad nausea with chemo and it helped her. Prevents treats covid and may be why I never had even when directly exposed without mask. I am Holistic nurse, cardiac too for years in health coaching and heart failure support. But a guy came to buy trees from me because he felt better from powder and capsules. He started on juice when we told him about it as giving away until actual sale starts. The freezes through off from getting fresh leaves now. But he had severe Gout, entire leg hurt. Working a lot land developement, etc. and could barely walk at end of day. After 6 weeks His Gout totally gone and leg pain. Moringa is highest anti inflammatory you can take, so we knew that would have helped. But the guy has not had labs yet for Uric Acid levels, and Moringa reduces Uric Acid. Waiting to see if it was anti inflammatory and Uric acid levels came down. Moringa hels me woth teas, powder and capsules which I make but doing the concentrate has totally controlled my chronic pain, fibro, back injury like 0. Anyway wanted to let you know about the gout. We have a couple people this happened with. Also reversed or controlled diabetes type 2.

It should be clarified ( and should have been done by Dr. Perlmutter) that credit for many of the studies on fructose, uric acid, salt, and biologic reasons for why humans have used fructose and uric acid for survival were done by Dr. Rick Johnson (presently at University of Colorado). He has books written for the lay public that explain these studies: "the fat switch" and "nature wants us to be fat" .

I have heard from Dr Cycae that he claimed that most of the purine source comes from the catabolic breakdown of our own cells rather than outside sources of purines from cellular breakdown products. He claims that the purines from foods are in most part not transported into the systemic circulation or portal system from the small intestines anywhere as much as the purines that come from our own DNA & RNA catabolism when our cells get replaced! Do you agree with these statements? If not, then why not please? Thank you!

There is no government Public Health Agency ( most specifically federal govt)that's majority priority is Public Health..Dr.is correct that USA life expectancy started to decline 4 years before 2020.. Another reality for ethical USA health professionals to contemplate is that 20 to 25 % of USA health medical cost has not an iota link to curing,to treating to relieving pain and suffering of American citizens been going on for 35 to 40 years. That's not a small amount of money ..Sammy and pols have been knowledgeable of this for at least last 25 years...Covid 19 has been called scamdemic may be very appropiate

Doesn’t some oxidative stress in the body particularly in the mitochondria a good signal to have? I think we all must have some oxidative stress to tell our system not just how to handle it but is a part of healthy metabolism? How much really is too much since even normal exercise generates free radicals and some oxidative stress as well! How does one know that we have too much oxidative stress? I have been using liposomal glutathione to quench much of this I think but isn’t that a way to also over do the quenching of too many free radicals or general oxidative stress?? Can’t you go overboard towards both extremes of this spectrum?? Again, how does one know when we are on either extreme of this spectrum of oxidative stress????

I don't know. Where are the studies confirming his statements? I recently mentioned uric acid on Brad Stanfield's channel and he directly commented and pushed back saying there are no supporting studies. Brad made it sound like he's just selling a book. I went out and bought a uric acid tester and have started tracking my levels, which are on the high side, but where's the proof? I would love if Dr Perlmutter went on Brad's show and had to defend his views to a skeptic. It's one thing to go on a show and tell his story. It is another thing to defend that story.

@ModernHealthspan
@ModernHealthspan 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, thanks for the comment. I am sure this is not cut and dried. But here are my comments. Here are two of the studies that Dr. Perlmutter refers to in his book. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/art.24164 (“Serum Uric Acid Level as an Independent Risk Factor for All-Cause, Cardiovascular, and Ischemic Stroke Mortality: A Chinese Cohort Study,”). The conclusion of this study is that high UA is an independent risk factor for all cause mortality, www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2090123217300346?via%3Dihub (Physiological functions and pathogenic potential of uric acid: A review), This review shows positive effects of UA but also says in its conclusion "The contribution of uric acid to development and progress of gout and metabolic syndrome appears to be well-established". There are more given in the book. These do not include the work of Dr Rick Johnson, mentioned by Abdelliah. One of the key messages from Dr. Perlmutter is also that fructose, especially in the form of HFCS etc. is not good and causes accumulation of fat. That in itself seems like a good message. There may well be studies showing that HFCS is not harmful, because there is a large industry behind it paying for them. In summary: There are definitely papers which link high UA to metabolic disease as Dr. Perlmutter has stated. You must decide whether they are sufficiently convincing for you.

If avoiding foods with added sugar/fructose would Perlmutter still feel fructose in natural fruit should also be avoided? Would the same apply to fructose containing vegetables? Also, I wonder about the effects of time restricted eating and short fasts have on uric acid levels e.g. 16:8 or OMAD?
@ModernHealthspan
@ModernHealthspan 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Thanks for the question. We do get into fruit later on, and Dr. Perlmutter's view is it is good in moderation. Fruit comes with nutrients as well as fructose and the fiber helps to slow the absorption. He does caution against fruit juice though. We talk a little bit about fasting and in the book he does suggest a 16:8 split or even OMAD
