Literally searched up this game because I remember it being so so good. My brother and I played it growing up and I remember us being addicted. I can still remember so many bosses like ugluk, the tomb troll, the swamp monster and the battle of helm's deep, where you had to kick ladders down and fight endlessly, such a good game.

I didn't play Return of the king, but had an absolute blast playing the two towers. Enjoyed it even more because we lost the dvd of fellowship and return of the king. So my brother and i would re-watch two towers every chance we got. Loved it❤

I saw in an interview today the devs used a Golf engine from some Tiger woods game to make this game, cause the golf engine could render long corridors very well and they used that engine LOL

It's the first videogame I ever played. It's what started me on gaming, and I still have the very same copy of the game I played on as a kid now as an adult. Its honestly probably what got me into the movies and from there inevitably the books. Suffice it to say I absolutely love this game!

Just bought a Ps2 this year and the two towers and the return of the king are two of the first games I bought for it. They aged a bit but still are a lot of fun to play and capture the atmosphere of the movies perfectly.

dude this was great! your humor intertwined between the legit review/retrospective and great editing had me glued to the seat. Really enjoyed it! I just beat the Fellowship of the Ring after not playing it for damn near 20 years it feels like, and I am about to start this and then end with Return of the King, and I cannot wait given the nostalgia factor and just great games they both were after whatever the first one was lol thanks!

The third age game is the most forgotten and underrated of the series, i liked the combat system that reminds me if final fantasy X and the new characters was amazing, i still play it to this day.

@@playit2724 They're on progress on remaking Conquest but i don't know if it's official, i hope so because this game was very good, i liked playing the battles as a normal soldier but after you could play as one of the main characters, third age probably needs a remake / remastered too.

This game was hard as shit. It kicked my ass several times especially the final helms deep levels. One of the few movie based games that actually pulled it off. Its impressive they got the actual cast.

I never liked the ROTK game as a kid because I always thought it was way worse than Two Towers. The only really tense part of ROTK for me was escaping the collapsing Paths of the Dead, but everything else was super easy to steamroll through with instant Perfects using the Bane abilities. Nothing in that game could ever compare to the horror of the Breached Wall. Cut content not being in the final product isn't a problem with the game though as you imply, what WAS a big problem with Two Towers was the terrible pathing of the ai partner, there are points on Cahadras and the Gap of Rohan where they will body block you into a corner forcing you to restart.

I remember playing this when i was 8 years old on the ps2 of a friend. Sadly he didnt had a memory card so i had to play it all over again every time i visited him :D I think i can play all up to the lurz with a blindfold on… i still remember the day when his mum got him a memory card so i was able to progress in this game :D

Wish I could play this (and ROTK) on PC. They were played so often by myself, my brother my friends as a 10-12 year old. We absolutely loved them both, especially with ROTK being multiplayer.

The battle of helms deep bit is brutally difficult from what I remember. I remember going to my Girlfriemds house and she had me beat that part because no one in her family could do it. Dark souls of movie tie in games.

It was really good! It was scary, the combat was good, and I LOVED the upgrade trees and momentum based points system. The projectiles felt super slick too. Even as a young kid playing this game at the time, I remember thinking "this game shouldn't be *this* good!"

I haven't played the game in years, and don't remember a lot of details, but i remember liking it. Or at least liking it enough to max out all 4 characters and beat the campaign with all of them. I remember the last level always being a big pain in the ass to complete. I wouldn't even consider myself a LotR fan. The movies are fine, I've seen Fellowship a few times, Two Towers a handful of times, and Return only once.

I have some legendary experience and memories about this game, I remember playing it with my father and brother when I was 6 years old, we played it on xbox classic, but we has 2 playstation 2s aswell, I remember that we never managed to beat the level of Balin's tomb, we never defeated the cave troll. Few months ago, I ordered a Ps2 version of this game, and I played 100% od the game multiple times, one of the best games I've ever played

i remember being in middle school playing this and trying to complete the helms deep quest, tried so many times that at a certain point i was just playing it knowing they would break the gate and i would lose but randomly one day after school i ran in and started the level and was shocked when i completed it! It was the worst of times it was the best of times ^^

One thing the last 3 levels of the game gave me was a feeling of overwhelming helplesness. The sequel, while trying, never gave me that feeling (specially cause if you wete playing as the main trio, more enemies= more exp from going Perfect mode) compare it to this game. The ladder sequel was tense, specially when those Uruks and Berserkers joined the rally, and your elf allies died from the constant barrages of arrow and cannons. The next level was literally you against an army trying to stave off said foes from killing the helpless civilians. And those bombers were a blessing and a curse depending who and when they blew up. And after that, the enemy marches in Helms Deep, and you are literally deep in the chaos, trying to cut as many enemies as possible before the gate crumbles while some dude yells "They are inside the keep, We're Doomed". With the only highlight being trying to save your ally from being overwhelmed and joining in the fray, untill said hope gets robbed by 2 trolls marching in. As a kid, those 3 levels were a nightmare to finish, but now i can appriciate the hopeless atmosphere they had, which the sequel never gave.

honestly i played the lotr two towers it was like my childhood game to play but when i was a kid i was getting upset of those Berserkers like ones i was trying to parry and block the berserker attack but nope he just kind of dose that redicalous charge attack and knock me down, and he was driving my insanity too cuz i had hard time beating the berserkers.

Gandalf the gray/white, Frodo, AND Boromir all have fully designed models and animations but none are playable. Silly me as a kid, I always hoped the secret character was Boromir. I never considered it’d be isildur even though we play as him in the tutorial. To this day it breaks my heart there’s no mod or anything anyones found in the files to let us play as one of these characters.

They should finally release the ''Lord of the Rings: Trilogy'' that was teased at the end of Return of the King. It could be a ''Remake/Remaster'' of the Two Towers and Return of the King game created into 1 new game, with the same type of playstyle, themes and settings. Only modern graphics and more polished gameplay and controls.

I'm glad you brought up the combat. I loved practically every LOTR game ( Third Age was an underated turn based game. Coming from someone that isn't a big fan of that genre lol ) Return of the King and two towers will always be amazing. But the Two Towers gameplay felt way aggressive and heavy and I loved that about it. Felt like you had more weight on certain charecters than others. Parts of the return of the king made me feel like I was people that had aluminum foil as armor lol but all in all both were amazing in design, music mixing from the movies etc just epic ASF. They all deserve remakes lol too bad I'm pretty sure the licensing issues would be horrible to get through just to remake em lol with EA no longer having the license anymore ( although in this day and age with the microtransactions that's a good thing lol ) I would kill to have extra charecters be included like boromir or Gandalf in the Two Towers or it would be funny to have Gollum in return of the king lol. It would be awesome if we had an evil mode kind of like the Third Age game. Definitely no doubt about Peter Jackson struck gold with this and the King Kong movie games. One of the best movie games period

@@playit2724 According to Google, adaption is used for animals adapting to the cold by growing long fur etc, and adaptation is used for a reworkings etc of source material. But I could be wrong, doesn't mattee anyway! Watched the while video, the bit with the two trolls in the Forest was pure horror back in the day!

my love of LotR comes from the story and characters, not the battles. they were my favorite books as a kid before the movies were even a thing, and then the movies were amazing too. so i never liked any of the hack-and-slash games that came out afterward. the only game based on the series i ever liked was the MMO.
