Unfortunate update for anybody wondering: his body was just found hours ago (17 hours ago as of writing on July 17 2024) on the island, in the national park. According to the autopsy, the injuries on his body are consistent with that of an accidental fall in a rocky area. His body took so long to find because where it was found was apparently "so inaccessible" that they had to use helicopter to comb over it. But yeah, very tragic and I send all the love and peace in the world to his family :(

My ex and I went off trail on a mountain in a town I'd spent my whole 25 years in. Frequented this trail and park 20-50x a year and we got lost for 6 hours. This wasn't even a rural area, it was a suburban metropolis of 50,000ppl and upwards of 10,000 visitors per day, where you could follow the glow in the sky to find a Walmart. It just takes one little mistake. Bonus points to whoever can guess the national park I'm referring to. Hint 3: I'm in the South.

Here's how it went down. JS did steal an actual watch, which he (wrongly) took to be a Rolex, when in fact it's an AP. He was keen to sell it ASAP and the two Mali's said they'd buy it, but their money was back at their air B&B. He agreed to go back with them and do the deal. When they got back, they had a couple of joints, before one of them asked to see the watch again. He put it on. Then he told Jay to be gone and that he was getting no £. What could Slater do? Fighting two men who are bigger wasn't an option. He could hardly report the theft to police since he stole it to begin with. So, he had to tuck tail and leave absent the watch or the money. That's why he couldn't go back there. He then decided to leave the road in an effort to cut down the walking time, but it went wrong and the rest is history.

This definetly feels like a "fuck around and find out" kind of disappearance; Jay clearly hung around some dangerous people and finally paid the price. I do think that the theory of "Jay steals a watch -> two AirBNB guys catch him and take him to their apartment -> Maybe they beat him up or something and kick him out as punishment for stealing -> Jay gets lost due to drugs in his system, dehydration and possible brain injury -> he dies of exposure/injuries and just hasn't been found" is most likely the correct one- it seems like the simplest explanation, and I don't believe there's any conspiracy involved; Just a young guy who lived a dangerous lifestyle, got bold, messed with the wrong people and paid the price. He still should be found of course- Jay doesn't seem like a good person, but he's young, and there's still a chance for him to rehabilitate and turn his life around; Even the victim of the machete attack he participated in wants him found, not even mentioning his mother. I never put much stake on how loved ones of a missing/murdered person behave on camera, maybe because I'm neurodivergent, and I know that people show emotions in different, weird ways, but that doesn't mean they're not geniuine. Jay's friend is kinda fishy and I can see her wanting to profit off his disappearance, but again, maybe she does geniuinely want him found too and all the money will go towards the search efforts- even if she knows what happened to Jay, I don't think that she's directly involved, more likely is that she's covering for someone like the AirBNB guys. So yeah, sad case. It does seem like Jay wasn’t living his life right, but I think that there was a chance that he would turn it around. I don't think he's alive anymore, and it's a case of "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes", just taken to the extreme.

I like your take a lot. Especially how people act on camera. I'm always wary of investigators that pin significance on how someone acted or reacted. Let's say it's my first solo vacation out of country, I'm 19 and full of teenage hormones and immortality, personally I would act fearless even if I was scared shitless. If someone saw me on camera, it'd look like I knew exactly what I was doing when, how could I? In this case it wouldn't give Any insight into what happened unless he was all out crying and screaming.

Tenerife really isn't that small. It's over 2,000 square kilometres, which is roughly the size of the Lake District. Much of it is made up of steep, volcanic mountains, riddled with ravines and caves. It's extremely possible thar someone could get lost there and never be found. The very fact that someone making a video about events there would assume that Tenerife isn't that big demonstrates how Jay Slater might have made the kind of error of judgement that led him to try to walk back. He probably didn't know he was 10 hours from home. He didn't know the area, had been partying all night and was clearly the worse for wear, so wouldn't have been thinking straight. Even if he'd had the presence of mind to go into his maps app to look up the journey time, if he didn't switch the journey mode to 'on foot' it'd have shown him a much shorter travel time than the reality. Trying to walk home if you miss the last bus is a pretty normal thing to do if you live in an urban area in the UK, but it's an absolutely terrible one of you try it in a remote, mountainous region. Given that he had a history of crime, it is possible he crossed somebody in some way during the night and was a victim of some kind of revenge, but the claims about complicated kidnap plots are just ridiculous. He participated in an admittedly horrible assault as part of a teenage gang, but sadly that kind of behaviour isn't actually that unusual in a lot of UK neighbourhoods, and there's no evidence he was some kind of big-league gangster. Given all his communications with friends, it seems more likely he died of dehydration, exposure or heatstroke while wandering disoriented far from anywhere. The insane speculation from Reddit sleuths must be adding to his family's misery. Every time someone goes missing, they always jump in with their stupid theories. They're eventually proved wrong almost every time, but they just don't stop anyway.

the fact his victim was so empathetic towards his family is heartwarming tbh. what he did was horrible and violent but at the same time this is a 19 year old, and while that doesnt absolve him, he has/had the time to grow up and become a better person. a lot of people who commit violent & drug related crimes as teenagers do grow up to regret it, and while we dont know if jay would, now he never has the opportunity to. im assuming he was high on something and just got lost in the mountains and died, it feels like the most plausible explanation to me. i think theories that he is kidnapped and still alive are just wishful thinking, or people who are interested in the drama/tiktok of it all, when realistically he probably got lost and fell from a high place.

It sounds as if he got impatient and just tried to walk the way back, or at least start walking and hopefully meet the bus somewhere. Knowing my brother at that age, especially after drinking heavily, I could see this silly decision happening. I don't think anything shady happened. I think he died of the heat and dehydration somewhere (exacerbated by his night of drinking, no doubt) and they just haven't found him. He could have burrowed into a small cave or under a fallen tree, as a lot of dying people tend to have this compulsion. It is unfortunate, and even though he partook in terrible things at home, it's still sad to hear about a human life lost.

This just screams dying of exposure - some things: The biggest thing to me is that everyone assumes he was going to walk the full 10 hours - i’ve missed busses before knowing the next one would take a WHILE, and so to cut down some time I walked to the next stop or two. He could’ve totally been meaning to cut his trip a couple of stops short in those two hrs between the bus he missed and the next one. Re:lucy, partiers will for sure follow/ be friends with low level plugs. I don’t think Lucy following dealers is necessarily sketchy for this case. Unfollowing them makes sense when police is investigating a disappearance you were partially witness to and you don’t wanna get charged with possession of drugs. I also don’t think there is any reason to doubt her? She went home early, when Jay called her in the morning he already wasn’t walking by roads, hence his inability to get water or have her call a taxi. That’s why she reported him missing instead. She also wouldn’t have been able to lie about the phone call ever happening as there are call records. At most, the airbnb people were sketchy for sure. He could’ve totally gotten spooked by something at the place (harder drugs than he thought, guns, or maybe that watch theory but that seems too unconfirmed to take into account) and didn’t wanna go back. People in their late teens and early twenties also are super stubborn, especially on substances, so i totally see him wanting to try to walk.

Jay lost his bag of E at the rave. The two men (Lucy’s employers) took him to a remote location and made an example of him. The boat belongs to the marbu balkan, he was delivered to his fate by the two men. Jay didn’t throw his phone into the ravine this happened after he was gone.
@Jay222224 ай бұрын
So you’re implying it wasn’t his E, but it was fronted to him? And “To make an example of him in a remote location.” E isn’t that expensive. I can’t imagine he would take enough for the night and it be enough that losing it would warrant “making an example” How would they entice him to somewhere remote?
@Mychannel67-wh4tc4 ай бұрын
@@Jay22222 you misunderstand. He was coerced into going to the remote location. He messed up by losing the bag. He ‘disrespected’ organised criminals. It’s not a rare people disappear for less in Tenerife. He got into a car with two men … I doubt Jay knew where he was being taken, he knew what it was about. Probably thought he could talk his way out. Watch Looking for Ricky you don’t mess around.

But, you cant get a phone number from a snapchat, can you? "I got a Snapchat about 10 minutes after I got off the plane saying ""kiss goodbye to your boy you're never going to see him again he owes me a lot of money"" which I passed on to police with the number it came from because I had my wits about me at the time and got my eldest son Zach to take a screen grab before it disappeared"

Think they could have meant the snap account? but might be wrong.
@projectjupiter55233 ай бұрын
if she needed her son to screenshot the snap, i'd wager she's not familiar with the app. if this is the case, she may be unaware that snapchat users can make accounts without revealing their phone numbers. alternatively, she may understand how it works and could have simply misspoken; this does not equate to guilt or deception as people misspeak all the time, particularly during periods of high stress, such as the disappearance of one's child under mysterious circumstances. it's also possible to link your phone number to your account and add people using their phone number, as long as you already have their number saved. she reported receiving prank calls, so if her number is known and being targeted by bad actors, it's possible that the account in question added her on snapchat using phone number - idk if she'd have access to their number in such a case though. i believe that part of the reason that people are finding so many 'suspicious' details in this case, and in many others discussed in detail on the Internet, is due to the fact that we read too deeply into all potential evidence and are overly eager to come up with theories of conspiracy, which prevents us from acknowledging that there are often simple, logical explanations for information that doesn't seem to add up; in this case, a potential miswording rather than a slip of the tongue that reveals an elaborate scam to fake a disappearance for the purposes of creating a GoFundMe and using the proceeds for whatever misdeeds one's imagination wishes to conjure up. while it's good to be critical to some degree whenever presented with information or opinions, do take care to remember that events in real life and quotes from real people are not crafted by literary scholars, so not every single detail has meaning or is a signal suggestive of something amiss. tldr: Occam's Razor says she probably just misspoke.

I do think Lucy might know more, but I really don't like all the cold remarks about Jay and what kind of a person he was. Unless you've lived in the drug world you can't really know how it works. Usually if you owe that kind of money you'll be forced to work for free til it's paid off, which can take years, or you'll be killed if you refuse. It's a terrible situation to be in and a lot of young men fall into it to make a bit of money and get out of the rat race without fully realising what they're getting in for, and that they can't just get away. I just think we should be a bit kinder to Jay's memory. Also, about the mum trying to cry; honestly it means nothing. We've got to be more understanding of human emotion than that!

I agree, the only part I disagree with is J attempting to walk 11hr back to resort, as if high he wouldn't be able to focus on that walk and if sound mind, well nobody is going to walk 11hrs in heat. Apparently Lucy told this account, so if this is fabricated then what else could Lucy be willing to fabricate, jus saying? Now Lucy's only saving grace, is that she is a female and possibly in fear of her safety so she does deserve a level of anonymity or protection.

Lucy Mae claiming that it was 1C at night and very windy is a blatant lie for sympathy. I was in Tenerife in February. It was 15 degrees at night and in all honesty theres little to no wind at night over there. It blows a gale sometimes in the mornings and early afternoons but high winds at night on Tenerife are really rare. If you don’t need a jacket in february why would you need one in June/July. He was in over his head. If he wasnt in danger he would've returned and asked for a ride or to get a hold of someone. There's deeper motives going on here. I'm glad I left my criminality in the past and learned from my mistakes. Being 19 though this kid made some mistakes he couldn't bounce back from. I remember when I was 19 I had nowhere near the wherewithal I do now to problem solve situations. Being that young he made choices or promises or something he couldn't live up to. Your word is your bond and especially in criminal/drug circles. So if you go back on your word it spreads to everyone and you become a huge target.
