I've been saying this for a while now, but I feel like the Switch Successor is going to have some kind of dedicated VR functionality. Like a headset comes with the console kind of dedicated VR. My reasoning is that the Switch was such a big deal because it could function as a portable handheld console or a home console. With all of the ports it has combined with how cheap it is compared to other home consoles ($350 for an OLED Switch vs $500 for a PS5) it became a very accessible form of console gaming. Following that up with something that functions like the Switch but just has better specs isn't going to be exciting enough to sell to people who aren't hardcore Nintendo fans. People who play casually or have kids and already have a Switch are probably going to be content with their current console and game library. And if Nintendo goes back to having their home consoles and handhelds be seprate systems, then they'll likely run into a similar problem where most of the people they're marketing to already have a Switch that they're happy with. So where can they go from here? Expand into VR. While VR is getting more affordable, headsets are still fairly expensive and a lot of them either require another console or expensive computer to work. This alone cuts off accessibility for people who just want to play one or two VR games and can't justify a whole console just for that. But a console that has a 3-in-1 TV, handheld, and VR functionality? And you can transfer your Switch library/play games you wanted to get on Switch if you didn't get one? And it's reasonably priced? *That* I can see selling well. Plus, it's not that much of a stretch. The Switch already dabbled in VR a bit and Nintendo has had decent motion controls for almost 20 years now, so it wouldn't take that much additional effort to make a headset and start licensing well known VR titles like Beat Saber. Naturally this would come with increased specs people wanted, so it would catch a lot of casual players and hardcore Nintendo fans. Honestly this all might be wishful thinking but I really hope this is where the Switch Successor goes.

While another article claimed that Nintendo has patented for new technology that will eliminate drift in their new console. My dream Nintendo Switch successor announcement: Nintendo is announces a Direct on twitter for a Friday morning. In the Tweet it does NOT say 'There will be no mention of the switch successor.' Then Friday comes along and people tune in. Suddenly the direct opens with Shinya recalling the Nintendo switch announcement. Then he says their will be a presentation on Saturday for Switch 2, which he name drops the real title of the console. Then it ends. The next day we get a Nintendo Switch Successor Direct, roughly 20 min in length. Starts off with someone at home and they look at the switch and then they look over at something else with a cheeky grin. Then they grab the new console and play Metroid Prime Beyond. Shinya takes over and talks about the new features with he other heads of the company. Then Shinya and the other heads say the line at once 'Now, please take a look at this.' The new Mario voice actor exclaims, 'It's-a-me, Mario!' Then we see a minute trailer of the open-world, 3-D Mario.

I think the only reason Nintendo showed new games for the 2016 switch reveal was because they literally had to, there’s no Wii U backwards compatibility. I think they’ll reveal backwards compatibility for the switch 2 before they get into the new games, but maybe they’ll throw out a launch title.

I am still a believer that Prime 4 is a last hurrah for the switch and a switch exclusive (Unless the successor is backwards compatible or maybe its cross gen), I just don't see Nintendo tell us for 7 years about this game on the switch, then the trailer comes, then say again its on switch, only for it to come and now you have to buy a $400 console to play it cause "Uh-oh, when we said Nintendo Switch, we meant the Nintendo Switch Successor. therefore Nintendo has 5 first party games yet to be released.

I mean ... they did this exactly with BOTW. Throughout the Wii U era, nintendo promoted BOTW and spoke on how it was coming, only to become a dual release as a launch title for Switch. I could see a dual release happening, but it depends how ambitious the game is. Switch 2 has to be a relatively large performance jump to rival with the new competition like the steam deck, so I imagine the extra development time for Prime 4 could've been a result of the technical limitations the switch has compared to what they wanted to make. If the game is simply too ambitious for the Switch to handle, then it'll have to be a Switch 2 exclusive only.

@@jeddysteve8330 My issue wouldn't be with the fact of it being on another console, it would be the marketing saying it was on switch, twilight Princess did come to GameCube despite releasing on wii and Breath of the Wild did come to WiiU even after the switch, Nintendo has said that this game is coming to switch, I'm fine with it being a cross get release, I just don't want it to be exclusive for switch 2 after saying not 2 months ago that it was for switch. If they said nothing about it coming to switch and then only released it on the 2nd one, I would be fine, but they have marketed it to be on switch, so that's I'm expecting.

I've been speculating, based on all the information we have currently, it stands to reason that their last game set for release is in January. this would open up February for a switch 2 software direct. if they follow through and do the switch 2 announcement this month, I could see the console releasing sometime in March or April timeframe. this would give time for games in a February direct to gain some hype for the consoles release. perhaps you've thought of this too. this is just speculation in my head based on patterns.

Well, I don't know if we could get a Switch 2 presentation in September and not get a general Direct or if we are getting a Nintendo Direct and not get a Switch 2 presentation on September and move it to October or if we are just not getting anything from Nintendo and getting nothing then I don't know. But I know that a lot of people including me are excited for what Nintendo could show for Switch 2 like showing us the GameCube Library, The Mii Maker Editor from Miitopia being added to the new Mii Maker, a new Eshop, and a new home menu with music just like how they did with the Wii. And also for the games as well like the next new 3D Mario, new Mario Kart, the sequel to Kirby and the Forgotten Land, a new Donkey Kong, new Zelda, new Punch-Out, new Pokemon, new Metroid, new F-Zero, and new Star Fox. But again there still some 3DS and GameCube games that need to come to Switch before we move on to Switch 2 like for the 3DS Kirby Triple Deluxe, Kirby Planet Robobot, and Tomodachi Life and for GameCube Star Fox Assault, Luigi's Mansion 1, Kirby Air Ride, and any of the Mario Party Games on GameCube. And I mean I've seen SpaceHamster wearing a Tingle costume on his two Tingle Videos so it would be cool and funny to see you where a Tingle outfit just like how SpaceHamster did. But I hope Nintendo does show us something for a Switch 2 Presentation, or a General Nintendo Direct, or nothing but we'll see what happens.

I guess some of you guys haven't heard about this jet. billbil-kun, one of the most reliable insiders, has confirmed that a Nintendo hardware reveal will take place this month, but is not about the Nintendo Switch successor. Is simply about a new bundle featuring the existing Nintendo Switch OLED Model and a copy of last year’s Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Sorry to ruin your hype guys, I just thought it feelt nesecary to let you know about this. But just because the successor to the Nintendo Switch doesn't get revealed this month, doesn't mean we're all doomed.

Under the cross gen argument, I still think that Pokemon Legends Z-A is going to be on Switch 2. Because we haven't heard anything from Game Freak about the game yet, and because the little video we got for it didn't show gameplay, and because if it was Switch 2, or whatever it's called, they couldn't have shown the logo for it because Nintendo hadn't revealed the console.

i think we are getting the same scenario of new nintendo 3ds where its most games can still be played on the nintendo 3ds but it will look nicer on the new nintendo 3ds. there might be a few exculsives similar to the new nintendo 3ds but nothing from there main sellers maybe in couple years there might be an big exclusive like legend of zelda.

Everyone thinks switch2 is gonna be announced but if it does happen I can only see it as a 10 second teaser after a metroid direct just saying metroid is coming to the next gen with enhancements. im one of the apparently very few who still is entirely 100% content with their switch and is in no rush to jump to the next console. you guys constantly complain about being nostalgic and missing the 3ds era or the gamecube era or whatever past era of nintendo thats gone now. but in the present, youre all clammering for the new console when nintendo is hinting that they wont reveal it until early 2025 at the earliest. i think most of you need to slow down, take life a day at a time, and spend time enjoying your switch and the last good full year of support we have. in 4 years the switch will be just like the 3ds and wii u are now, with no online functionalities, no eshop, no updates or dlc to games digitally, etc. im going to make sure i thoroughly enjoy my time with the nintendo switch but its entirely on you guys if you fail to live in the moment and just wanna spend all day speculating about what comes next. such an overrated hype train bro, dont get me wrong im hyped too and all but we have to spend the present moment enjoying what we have. thats the only way to thoroughly enjoy life with no regrets.

We will (probably and technically) get a direct on Wednesday, because Clash Royale is having a collab with them and have a presentation on that day. I think (hopefully not) it might mean that we won't see switch 2 this month because they wouldn't do it on the week of echoes of wisdom so the week of the 16th is the only time it would work this month.
