Agreed this event seems like it is going to be annoying, people liked the N-R one but I cannot see why two days after it started I was already fed up with Monolith and Dragublion everywhere.

@@SeanVS I thought you meant for stopping special summons until the opponents next turn which this does. "At the start of your main phase 1: neither player can normal or special summon effect monsters, until your next draw phase" seems like the same card except more reaching

The issue with unbanning certain cards is that it’s not just the deck it belongs to that benefits from it, the power level of every deck in the game that can utilize it rises along with it. The more generic it is, the more decks can run it. And the more powerful the deck already is, the more that boost is going to create a substantial power imbalance. Just as an example, (I’m not very familiar with either deck) Adamancipators would benefit from Steam the Cloak being unbanned a lot more than the archetype it belongs to would. It could make one deck playable while at the same time making the other Tier 0.

Thank you for watching and commenting! Steam the Cloak and other generic tuners were banned in April 2020 upon the official debut of the current Master Rule changes. Adamancipator and Eldlich were the two most dominant decks after this both arriving in Yu-Gi-Oh! at the same time. Block Dragon, Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion and Jet Synchron were banned in September 2020 in response to this. Block Dragon, Mecha Phantom Beast O-Lion and Jet Synchron are currently legal in Master Duel at 3. I've known Konami for years. Trust me; they don't think with as much caution as you do.

The mindset of a lot of people is that they want to grind gems at a low cost. Konami knows that too and if they banned all those non synchro options, you will have EVEN LESS participation because it seems a lot of people are not interested in playing a deck type that is relevant for a single event only. True Draco is king for these events because they are anti meta, cheap, and relevant in all these events (except NR). Unless they make these events rotating, this will always be an issue. Moreover, this festival is filled with SCOOOOOOOP. Why? because optimal synchro decks are too long and the endboard is too strong. Why would you sit waiting for 5 minutes and end up surrendering anyway because you can't out 3-5 negates? They had to limit this decktype to very low power synchros monsters, otherwise, this was the inevitable result.

in what world should droll or nib get hit just because it's a synchro fest. droll is bad to begin with as what are you trying to stop here. most synchro decks search like 2 or 1 or even times while doing full combo. and equalizers like nib is simply what yugioh is all about now. you either do broken things going first or have broken cards going second. removing only one part of the equation doesn't make it that suddenly your resonator deck gets better but instead it just has no way to win going second against the good decks.

In THIS world. The priority for creating an event should be to ensure that people can engage with it. Synchro's are the theme, the banlist is the design. If the banlist fails to address issues which allow people to engage with the theme POSITIVELY they will enjoy it a lot less. Konami needed to have spent more time planning this event out. They needed to have thought about what strategies people WANT to play for an event like and tried to make that as reasonable as possible. Banning Gundari but not considering commonly played cards people actually use is absurd. Subscribe.

I do agree with some of your points, but banning/limiting stuff like Lava Golem, Kaijus, Maxx C, etcetera is just never happening. You say that they should go because they disrupt Synchro based strategies, but it's the same with ranked. It's not like they would ban those cards just because you're now only limited to using 1 specific type of Extra Deck monsters.

@@SeanVS Honestly, I haven't been on ranked in the last month or so until this week. Though I haven't seen one yet. But if you're trying to argue that seeing less of a specific Extra Deck monster is because of those cards, I'd definitely argue that others share the same experince. And as someone who plays a Time Thief/Rokket deck, I *definitely* understand that weakness.

Synchro-Only Extra Decks are all but non-existent on a competitive level. There are simply too many counters for them to play through and prepare for.
