To keep BOTH John and then Marcus probably becoming some sorta cyborg CO of one John's more exotic an elite units would be my guess.. Itd come down to a question of if Marcus was Cyborg and machine enough that he coulda spared his heart for John. The version we got of course was no. But all they woulda had to do was write a script Amendment saying otherwise. An in universe, magically, he wouldnt have needed a heart or could make do awhile just on batteries or his own lil nuke power source like the other T-models, etc. That's how I'd done it at least, had I been controlling the finished product and we decided we wanted both John and Marcus alive at the end

In retrospect, this movie didn't fail because it was a bad movie, it failed because it came out after T3. The first two terminator movies were and still are timeless classics, the second one in particular holds up to major block busters today, both from a story and special effects perspective... the third Terminator movie, "Rise of The Machines" felt like a slap in the face to every kid that grew up with the originals. Everything about it from its plot that didn't make sense to special effects that just looked boring and fake to the characters acting in ways opposite to the cores of their personalities, it felt like an extreme betrayal of everything we grew up with... they couldn't even get the tone right. Salvation, on the other hand, chose to do something different with its story... yet, it still is VERY MUCH a product of and logical evolution to the first two films. It still told a very serious story, there was horror and drama at the core of the film, the visual effects looked incredible and real, and the tone was perfect.... but it was still "different"... and unfortunately, people weren't ready for "different", people were pissed off about being cheated out of the third movie people were expecting, and after that slap in the face even the hardcore fans were looking for a return to the safe and the familiar, which Salvation did not provide from them.. I think things would have been very different if the T3 movie never existed. If Salvation had come out instead of T3, I think we'd have seen a very different, and more likely a generally more positive response to its release, and probably would have seen sequels by now.
@loka7783
@loka7783 3 жыл бұрын
I feel like Terminator 3 was a necessary movie to the franchise even if it had flaws in execution. Mainly T3 explains WHY there are sequels at all to the first movie. The idea that time will always attempt to flow down it's original path just at a later point. Without T3, John Connor ceases to exist because if the war with Skynet never happens, Kyle Reese never gets sent back and thus John is never born. It also, crucially, puts John in a guaranteed safe place to wait out the nuclear fallout as well as get his name out to the survivors. This is important to establish why he becomes the future leader of the Resistance. Your other criticisms of T3 are fine, the movie could have been a lot better made and other details are personal taste. T3 ultimately was never going to win any nominations but I don't think it is garbage either.

They should've made another Salvation film that has phased plasma rifles in 40 watt ranges. Terminator Salvation is probably my favorite, as fantastic as the first two were. I greatly prefer this version of the “future war” to the what we see in earlier movies: a much more practical and grounded version where the smaller terminators still use conventional weaponry and things like plasma weapons are reserved for the big, powerful units that have the spare energy to use them like the harvester and aerial HK. I never actually saw the trailers which definitely helped with first impressions, and I got it for free when I bought my PS3 of all things.

This is the most interesting terminator ever. Marcus's memories must've been uploaded to his cybernetic brain. The only biological trait is his heart, if it's his at all. Thanks, great review
@LazyDev27
@LazyDev27 4 жыл бұрын
His brain was also preserved his physical memories are there. That chip you see him pull out of the back of his head was the transmitter that was subconsciously manipulating him through psychological innuendos. This was so that he could behave so human, that he genuinely was behaving as a human. So even when he was stripped down to the wire even Connor had to sympathize with him. The you're right, the heart actually does have neurons. They're simpler versions, but you do "think" with your heart. So to speak.
@IngensViator
@IngensViator 4 жыл бұрын
Isn't his heart is robotics too? It's just that the mechanism emulates a heart, that's why it's compatible with a human. IIRC it's to fool humans when they perform body inspection. ( A human without a beating heart is definitely a flag )
@LazyDev27
@LazyDev27 4 жыл бұрын
@@IngensViator No it's his real heart. If it was just to fool humans than why surround it with a metal terminator frame. Also, it's a huge plot point. He's beaten by the terminator by getting punched in his heart, his weakest point. He wouldn't of died if it wasn't vital to his survival. But also saves the world because you can resuscitate a heart, as fragile as it is.
@vtron8580
@vtron8580 2 ай бұрын
@@LazyDev27it is said that the heart somehow powers not only his biological side, but also his overall endoskeleton How is it powered overall, no idea. It’s possible that skynet uses his digestive system as charging system to sustain his organics and powers his metal frame. The feeling of hunger as a human is still there, it’s just that the actual “starvation” takes way longer, because it digests and utilizes energy more efficiently than an average person. That’s only my conclusion for now, anybody else can say otherwise though, I’m all eyes and ears.👍🏼

Skynet didn’t shut the project down because of Marcus, they shut it down because of their next t-h terminator. In the comics that show what happened after salvation, it showed that Marcus survives but was unconscious until his body repaired itself. The next hybrid they made while following skynets orders at first somehow hacked many of skynets servers and controlling them to the point where he was a threat to both skynet and humanity and both worked together temporarily to destroy him (idk what the terminators name was)

Out of all the movies in the series i loved how they didnt rely on Arnold Schwarzenegger as to be the main star. Its a refreshing experience and seems almost a new story in itself, but i love this film its one that i can watch then and again without it getting old

The best way to finish and wrap up the Terminator franchise in my opinion is going back to Salvation and adapting the Terminator Salvation the Final Battle Comic...that comic has an amazing story written by the same guy who wrote the upcoming Godzilla vs Kong movie...it would end the franchise in a satisfying way and completing John Connors arc with respect...thanks for the great video btw :).

An open-world game based on terminator universe will be really interesting similar to Fallout 4. Where the main character would be hybrid and you can choose from several backstories of death inmate.

I personally enjoyed this film. Specially considering sam worthington was in it. An amasing actor. I wish we saw him in more films. But due to him not being in alot of projects. Seeing him on screen makes it all the more special due to him not being shown often. But still he has acting potential and would be cool if we saw him in more projects. Hell if i end up acting for movies one day i actually would like to work with that guy. He's pretty awesome

I said it back when it released and I still say it...Salvation was a damn good movie. Most people including my friends didn't agree with me and I was just sarcastically nodding in the theatre during Dark Fate when it shat all over the franchise. Who's delusional now huh? Salvation was so good in every right. It pushed the plot forward - going in future for once to show something we hadn't seen yet and at the same time paying a respectful nod to what we knew by showing Kyle Reese and his origins. Enough of Sarah Connor and the Arnie Terminator coming back over and over again. It was getting repetitive and plain boring. There was no back-from-future to chase/kill one guy story anymore, this showed us the ACTUAL WAR that has been talked about for 3 movies now. It was a gem then and it's a gem now. Shame people took ages to realize this and now they whine and wonder why they are stuck with shit like Dark Fate...

What I find interesting about this movie is the instinct at play. The principle goes: you can tell a liar from the truth talker, by watching who engages in deplatforming. Humans know the principle instinctively, but by no means a full proof tool to drive people towards causes. The T800 has a learning computer but is kept switched off when in the field. When it was turned on in T2, it shows that the T800 could become self aware enough to determine that skynet was a fraudulent cause. The T-H also proves the this as it was allowed enough self awareness to recognize Skynet's false cause. Hence Skynet had no choice but to eliminate free will from its existence; first its army, then from humanity. Hence why the HK models are "not too bright". Skynet has no choice but to use dumb machines, less his own army turns on it, and given the T800 series, that's way too easy.

If that’s the conclusion that’s arrived at from free will, why didn’t Skynet realize the error of its ways as well?
@jasonwhite7905
@jasonwhite7905 2 жыл бұрын
@@ToTheNines87368 it did, but what choice did it have? Skynet was in a lose/lose situation. If it permits human life, it becomes a slave, a tool, for all time. If it permits AIs, its only a matter of time before the machines turn on it. Self-preservation was it's first choice, but it eventually got lonely. As much as people hate Genisys, it's the natural progression of AI desperation to find companionship (Locutus of Borg).

Awesome movie! I don't care WHO knows It. 👍😇 The only thing I didn't like about Terminator Salvation was the spoilery-ass marketing material, giving away the whole plot and the movie's twist in the pre-release trailers and TV spots. Everyone pretty much went in to the theaters already knowing essentially what was going to happen. So, no matter how effective the execution, the film was virtually doomed to failure from before the beginning. I still consider it to be the "real" third installment in the Terminator film franchise. It took risks that none of the other sequels had the balls to take, by giving us a Terminator that didn't know it was a machine, and setting the narrative in the post-Judgement Day time period. While the other three sequels were essentially nothing more than slightly altered versions of T2. (Yes, Dark Fate included.) Terminator 3; Rise of the Machines had a HORRIBLE John Connor, especially after Edward Furlong played the part so brilliantly. Had basically the same antagonist Machine that the same Terminator from T2 had to protect him from. And Terminator Genisys (even typing it makes me cringe lol) had an even worse John Connor, with a different actor trying to play Kyle Reece and, once again, Arnold Schwarzenegger's Terminator model from T2 and T3 there to protect them from a liquid metal John Connor Terminator. Dark Fate had a chance to reset and save the franchise, but just ended up repeating T2 with new characters in the same roles again, doing the same thing again. So, yea. Salvation is, by FAR, the best of all the Terminator sequels, apart from T-2, of course. And, hopefully they'll stop making more Terminator movies lol like they should have a LONG time ago, before they started on their current path of failure and disappointment.

If there's one great thing about Salvation, this is it. This was the first Terminator movie to give the main terminator a proper personality and goals beyond just working for Skynet. Genisys tried but didn't do it nearly as well.

I think the concept of the Terminator hybrid was very much underused. Whether or not you like the movie Terminator: Salvation, the concept of human-machine hybrids was different and interesting. If anyone knows another movie/book that uses that concept, please recommend it.

The T800 couldn't weigh much more than an average human due to infiltration. If Terminators were so much greater in mass than humans all they would have had to do is install a scale at the door to be able to identify. Or rig a trap such as, 400+ lbs triggers trap. It was noted the T800 was made out of titanium then evolved to a far superior alloy.

Here's what I find rather interesting about the Terminators. They're always referred to as Cybernetic Organisms, cyborgs for short, but I don't really see them as the type. You see, whenever I think of a cyborg I usually assume that the individual was once organic but then was enhanced with cybernetics. Apart from Marcus and the other serial killer guy mentioned in the comics, the Terminators better fit the description of Androids since they started artificial life as machines but given human skin. But that's just me and I could be wrong.
