Bought the DFP Model II CNC Machined Surface Iron twice because the deck hand on the Native Sun charter boat (Chris) out of San Pedro loved it so much I ended up giving it to him. The new one I just bought I rigged it with Capt Jay Fishing Assist Hooks size #2/0 just incase it gets hit from the sides instead of the tail. Anyways thank you sooo much for your tips truly appreciate it and I will let you know how it went once I try them.

those low profile reels have the power to stop those homeguards yellows at catalina and clemente Island no problem, got a 28lb yellowtail at the westend of calatina with a lexa 300 on a calstar gx8 and a 10ft of 25lb floro.

Can you explain a little more for the newbies. At 14:29 I to the video you mention the Penn carnage rod being a good yo-yo rod or heavy fly line rod but not good for vertical jigging because of the action of the rod? Also, what exact size is that rod? Thanks for any further info.

So basically for vertical jigs you want a lighter rod that gives the jig the right action. By size do you mean line size or length?
