July 14th, a young fox with two tails, rejected by all as a result of his extra tail, hides away within the streets of town, trying to survive. After a harsh encounter with some bullies, the young fox cub, shattered and in despair, dashes into the woods, where the most unlikely of bonds will begin to form.

I love how you made Sonic cocky and his usual cheerful self at first and then made him slowly realize just how hard Tails has had it and slowly descend into seriousness and heartbreak and the pure look of shock on his face when he Tails tells him how young he is and how someone so innocent and young had to deal with all this. One of the things about Sonic’s character is that he has faith in the good in the world and people, and to see for himself the tragic result of how everyone treated an innocent child really took a toll on him. I loved how you showed that.

I really like Sonic’s reaction to all that information about Tails, the staggered stumbling and falling over; you can just see the disbelief in what he’s hearing and how shocked he is that anybody could be cast aside as hard as Tails has been, especially as young as he is I also love Tails’ complete inability to believe anyone could possibly be nice to him, the effects of the life he’s had up to now truly showing; anyone in his position would be shaking at the presence of anybody, unable to believe they want to help no matter what they say; it took a good minute for Sonic to really get through to him, and even then he’s so terrified of being touched, the poor thing I really like this take on the backstory of Sonic and Tails, safe to say I’m very invested ❤️

How much I can relate to Tails is crazy. This is so sad. I wasn't in this exact situation with no parents and living on the streets, but I can still relate. I'm not very emotional and this made me cry. This is so sweet and sad. Great job everybody. But maybe don't pull on my heart strings so much next time, will ya? Lol. But, seriously. Great job. This monumentally inspirational, enlightening and touching video, has literally been a major contributing factor in changing my life and enriching me with profound glorious purpose, thankyou so much for making this!!!!!!!!! All 3 episodes and other related videos, such as jingle bell ride are very good, but especially this one. I can soughta relate a little to this Tails experiences despite Sonic being the one who I relate to in some ways in terms of personality, because I've had corrupt doctors lie about me then pass it off as a medical opinion and lock me in rooms where they somewhat starved me; corrupt police attack me in my car, fracture my face and falsely charge me; my own mum brainwash, sabotage and exploit me since I was a baby; had people ignore my merits; and more. It's still going on, just last week one of my rental people gave a false report to police about me and my next door neighbor stalks and threatens me, as well as making loud noises all through the night to stop me from sleeping. I've watched this during a time in my life in which I've hated almost everything and didn't want to do anything. My own pleasures, thrills ect, if I could even get the opportunity to do them, weren't enough to live in this horrible world, but then I sore this! I want to be a hero, especially for people like this Tails. Given my experiences, I might be able to understand people like Tails better than a lot of other people. I would know that everyone in a community can gang up on one person, and it can go on and on without anyone intervening or helping, just turning a blind eye or even joining in. Despite the horrible life that's been forced upon me, I am destined for greatness, and this vedio has been an unlikely substantial contribution to my journey. While I'm here, I just want to state I don't think he has trauma. One can be overloaded with negative emotions, be in very bad health, and have so many bad experiences that it's logical to think certain things. Like when Tails freaks out in episode 3, given his experiences, I think it's logical for Tails to think those things. Tails is very logical, I mean he's a techno genius and in Sonic Frontiers his comment to sage about his faith in Sonic isn't faith because he has a wealth of data from which to draw upon. Well this version of Tails prior to meeting Sonic only had terrible data to work with because of the life he lived, again, logical. Unfortunately the medical industry is very quick to pass people like him off with an array of disorders so they can capitalize on him, and I despise that from the bottom of my heart. All he needs is someone like Sonic, who will feed him so he's not starving, show him that there are good people out there, and so on. 3 songs I listened to, prior to typing this, after 4:05 roughly(the part where he's tied up and cries out "please stop") were Escanor Sunshine theme ost, Demon Slayer opening 1 full with English lyrics, and Shadow Throw It All Away, so I sometimes get pretty emotional while listening to this. I just keep watching this, I'm getting so much out of it, thankyou so much for making this it means a lot to me! Many people might not like this, but I'm big on the Sontails thing, and this has also contributed to my experience with that despite mainly being about other stuff non Sontails related. EDIT: I'm now listening to Chrono Trigger Schala's Theme Remix Z before I go back and continue watching.

I’m posting this for Aaaa Aaaa. Aaaa Aaaa posted this first, many months before Episode 2 came out. I’m just reposting this for him, because he had to delete his posts. The exclamation for why is in another post, but if you ask me to I will respond to you and let you know why. Aaaa Aaaa’s post is below here. And if anything is wrong with the lay out, that’s my fault, I’m posting this from my phone. If you up vote this I’ll know it’s because of what Aaaa Aaaa said, not me. Aaaa Aaaa’s post below. I read a question posted to me, but now I can't find it. To the one who posted the question, my favorite part was the ending. The beginning, well very well written(and well done in every way), was actually hard to watch. I love the ending because Tails was so scared of everything, and then Sonic shows up, and turns in to Tail's hero(His future knight and shining armor, if you will). It was very much everything about after Tails met Sonic that makes the ending my favorite part. I am sorry if you were looking for something more specific, but it was every time Sonic helped Tails, and helped him stop thinking of himself as a freak(Yes, I could tell Tails still kind of thought of himself as a freak at the end. But Sonic still helped him, but something like that takes time to help. Especially after the trauma Tails has gone through, all over having two tails). I could give something a little more specific if you really want me to. But I don't think I should give anything to specific. I'm sorry if you're disappointed in me for the somewhat vague answer.

I was honestly surprised by how much heart was put into this. The quality of the animations almost made me think a bit less of this animation but the length and all of the extra bits with the blood coming from tails nose and the tears and the emotion coming from Sonic and Tails talking and learning about each other was incredible. And when Tails had to physically count how old he was that part hit me so fucking hard. This was quite phenomenal, glad I came across this and I am so watching part 2 now.

Absolutely breathtaking. The frighteningly realistic depiction of bullying, as well as its influence on Tails' behavior is what stands out to me the most. The little details such as Tails flinching when Sonic extends a hand really sell it. One thing I will suggest is adding subtitles for the dialogue. Some of Tail's dialogue was not intelligible to my ear, so subtitles would be helpful for clarification, as well as expanding your audience to deaf viewers. On a side note, I'm surprised no one has commented about your intro. You did a wonderful job with it, not just using music from a classic 90s home video logo, but incorporating the concept of said logo into the animation and even syncing some of the actions to the music. Very well done. :>

It's so nice to hear so much from someone with this video, as I am very passionate about this one. :) You stun me when you say frighteningly realistic portrayal, seeing as I wasn't bullied, pretty much at all in my life. There was one person in 8th grade, but that didn't last long. I was lucky enough to be seen as generally a very likable guy (and yet I can still be so hopelessly shy at times). So the fact that you say I portrayed bullying so well is amazing to me. To move to the next point, yes this constant charade of Tails being bullied to end with no love, just violence and torment, really was screwing with him. I imagine anyone at such an impressionable young age would get mentally destroyed with such a life. It's honestly a wonder Sonic was able to muster enough trust unto Tails to take him somewhere safe. Now the subtitles thing. I tried doing it once before on break... and got very confused about the process. So I'm waiting until graduation time in May before tackling that issue on my animations. And you recognize the intro music! The thought came to me one day when I stumbled upon that Family Home Entertainment logo on KZbin over the Summer. The nostalgia was so overwhelming, hearing that at the start of all those old Christmas specials on VHS as a kid, I actually cried. So I wanted to make that little intro to relive that nostalgia. Beating poor Tails until his nose is bleeding... might seem a little over-the-top to some, but it is not unheard of, and here, it drives the point home. I've been through a lot in my not-so-happy life, and I've witnessed firsthand how trauma and mistreatment can damage a person at the deepest level. For Tails, a battered, mistreated child who has never known love and acceptance, only hate and rejection, and has spent his whole life fleeing and trying to avoid being seen... that's definitely not something you recover from overnight, or even a few months. Sonic will have to earn his way into Tail's heart. And I can't wait to see how you explore this in the future. :> That music is a blast of childhood nostalgia for me too. And a rather fitting choice since it is almost as old as Sonic himself: it first appeared on FHE's cassettes in the spring of 1991. ;>

That's usually the case. Fanfics tend to go much harder on the bullying compared to the canon, which has it far more toned down in comparison, due to the fact they're generally sticking to a more family friendly appearance (E - E10+).
