I've had mine going on 5 yrs. now and I've taken a lot of good pics with it, won a few photo contests myself. I was actually looking at other lenses (Canon) today, some prime and some not and after watching reviews on them I came back to my senses and decided to stick with my big Tammy and save lots of money. I realize more than ever now just how nice a big tele-zoom lens. I can stay in one spot almost always and frame up on a bird. That's a huge advantage over a prime. And when you understand it, what aper's/zoom lengths to use you get better pics with it.

Very nice review, I have to thank you . I have a gen 1 and can't never get really sharp images until you mentioned that you shoot at F8. I tried and found a great improvement in sharpness. No one ever mentioned that little bit of information and believe me I search so thank you , I can use it again along with my 100-400 which is my preferred lens for hiking !!!!!

Good vid again Tom, thanks for it. I am using this with 90D now for over 10 days. Happy with the result. Alst I am satisfied after Canon old 100-400 failed to resolve the light over 32mp. And I got 80% misses. But with G2, got 75% hits.

Tamron It looks really perfect when version 2 came out. Have you tried the Sigma 150-600C? I have an important dilemma, which lens to get for the old APSC + Canon RP. I would use it for shooting wildlife, deer, birds, pretty much anything...but DEER first

Also get the the tap-in console if you get or have this lens or any of the newer Tamron SP lenses - for firmware updates and any calibration for DSLRs - mine was spot on out of the box. Especially true if you are planning any upgrades to new bodies or mirrorless.

That’s a tough question because the lens is so large! The atlas pack is the only one I know I’d that you can customize to fit. Maybe give Milford Photo a call, they might have something in stock

Suggest you go for D500 + Nikon AFS 70-200mm, f/2.8G ll ED lens + X 2 Nikon AFS Teleconverter TC 20E lll. This combination makes your lens becomes 600mm, f/5.6. It is much lighter, doesn’t require tripod, just handheld. But, must have D500 body. You can used it for macro, portraiture, birding, wildlife, street photography, except for landscape. I have done away with my Nikkor 200-500 mm, which is extremely heavy, always needs tripod. This is my true experience.

I sold off my 1.4x teleconverter and 70-200 as I liked the extra reach using the D500. I've also found that after updating the firmware on the Tamron it works very nicely with the FTZ adapter on a Z7.

I have an r5 this lens and an 80d... Was thinking about the 32.5 aps-c sensor. I am keeping a DSLR for the quickness and i like an aps-c for the reach, but with the r5 now, the 80d only gives me about 1000 more horizontal pixels in the center of the frame than cropping the r5, where the 90d would give me about 2k more horizontal pixels in the same 22x14mm....

Now I know I'm not Thomas, but if you're asking about a camera for wildlife, the 90d wins hands down, it has double the frame rate, a higher MP count for cropping, and it also has a good focus system, the RP focus system has been improved but it doesn't compare to the 90d for action.

@@caiopacheco5827 Unless you already have many EF-S lenses, i would take the Eos r all day long. While the 90d has a great noise performance its still a crop sensor. The Eos r has gotten really good over the past years and its actually quite a good deal right now. Try and look at the used market, many pros are selling their Eos r since they bought an R5
