Imagine somebody put a gun to your head and told you that you could only do one type of tattoo for the rest of your life… what would it be? Traditional lady heads? Tribal? Demonic black-and-grey? We asked our artists what they would do if we took all the variety out of their lives and forced them to stick to the same thing FOREVER.
Hopefully #13 is lucky for us here at Inked. We’ve rounded up all of your favorite tattooers for our 13th season of Tattoo Artists React. This season we’ll be discussing all of the most important tattoo-related topics-rude things people have said about their tattoos, some advice for people getting their first tattoo, tattoos they regret and more. Plus, our panel judges the tattoos you sent in and they share all of their crazy client stories. It’s going to be a season filled with excitement, hilarity and even the occasional tear. Realism heals fine as long as you use contrast. If you just use the lightest greywash it will look terrible.

Highlights done with white ink ~heal~ well but fade quicker than the rest of the tattoo. It depends on the shade of the skin whether it stays looking fresh for longer. My skin is like gothic pale so my artist tries to use the natural colour of my pasty skin to do long lasting highlights. Personally, I'm addicted to tattoos and eventually want both my legs and my back and my bum COVERED in bright colours- I can't go in the sun anyway so they don't fade easily. I've already done about half of what I want- because my skin is so pale, scars show very prominently so I started around all my surgery scarring first (not cosmetic surgery, neccessary surgery on my back and shoulders which I'm happy to say are almost all covered now)

Most of them are more niche artists though and aren’t really great at everything. There are a couple who are uniquely talented and can drawn just about anything up, my sister is an artist and has done several tattoos, but she’s also done a lot of tattoos. She’s done anime and traditional. She’s done a katana on her girlfriend.

I’ll personally never get sick of American Traditional Tattoos. They’re just so cool, full of history, always looks good, and the artist can always add their own twist while keeping it traditional, so it never gets old in my eyes!
