As kids a couple of my mates had Gat guns, I was so jealous. My dad was a coal miner which was not a well paid job and money was always tight. Then came the news that the pits were closing and my dad was being made redundant. However this terrible news changed when not long after, he managed to get a job in a local printing company which not only paid better, but meant there was some redundancy money to spare. One magical day my parents called me in from the garden, told me to sit down and asked, “If you could have anything you wanted, what would you like ”? I thought long and hard for about half a second and shouted back excitedly “an Air Rifle”! . I received a brand new BSA Meteor and I was in heaven. Fifty plus years later some of my fondest memories are of my father showing me how to shoot correctly and having contests to see who could be first to hit a penny at the bottom of the garden. I am now a Granddad and have just been blessed with my first Grandson who I am looking forward to introducing to the pure joy that can be had from airguns.

The first airgun I bought was a hatsan mod 60 in .22. Loved every moment with it. Many years later I've got a tx200, hw97, LGU and more but occasionally the Hatsan gets a go at the range and it still makes me smile.😊

I was never allowed any Airguns when I was younger as my mum was always very anti gun. Many (many) years later when I stumbled across a gun shop, something ignited inside me, probably for all those years I felt I’d missed out on. Shortly after this, I purchased my first airgun which was an HW45 .177 cal and I’ve not looked back since. My collection has now grown to 29 (and counting) air rifles and pistols. It would be amazing to get to number 30 with this great little pistol on my 50th year on the planet!? After watching your video, I put a TBT kit in my first and second HW45, shortened both springs slightly, and they are both super smooth and a joy to shoot now, especially the .22 HW45. My first pistol was Diana “pop out” barrel, while shooting at a tin can a friend came along and asked if he could have a go . Rather than shoot the can he fired at a paraffin can that a lad was carrying ! There was a huge scream from the lad as he’d been shot in the nose ! This proved the accuracy of the Diana , police were called and I lost my Diana along a Gat . This was 60 years ago and I still love air guns .

This is quite weird because only last week a mate of mine showed me a mint boxed Milbro G10 complete with Beatall pellets and gat darts! My first gun was a Diana model 2 G2 pop out, back in 1972. I dont remember ever paying for a gun back in those days, we just used to swap stuff such as fishing tackle and bike gear - like ape hanger handle bars and dynamos that wore out the side of your tyres and slowed you down to walking pace... Next was a slant grip Webley MK1 pistol given to me by my uncle, I still have it. Then a brand new BSA Meteor in .22 for Crimbo. You name it, I had it. Relum Tornado, ASI Paratrooper, Apache, Comanche, and Commando, Milbro G80 which I think next to the Webley Hawk MK1 was the sexiest looking gun ever. Then I started work as an apprentice electrician that enabled me to get a brand new BSA Airsporter MK6 and the not so wonderful Panther RO72 pistol which was about as accurate as my Model 2 G2 and the Milbro G10 (Dont try and take one apart)..... Heady days, eh?

My first airgun was an HW77 in approx 1985 from Streatham Armory. I spent many many hours removing the varnish and applying a finishing oil I got from South Croydon gun shop, and eventually saved up to have a venom tuning kit installed. It was so smooth to shoot that more than once I was convinced it hadn't fired at all. I wish I'd kept that gun. Merry Christmas!

My first airgun was a Milbro repeater for my 13th birthday early 70s. More often than not pellets would get stuck in the barrel so I shot darts at my dad's garage door with a painted dart board on it. I also used BBs. Behind our house in fields they were starting to build houses. At this time there were foundation trenches about 30-40yds away. I was playing with my Milbro shooting BBs and suddenly sods of earth were landing around me. I looked around me and just spotted a head popping up over a trench. Two of my mates and younger brother were chucking dried mud at me. I sent a volley of vengeful BBs over watching them go to judge trajectory and after a few tries there was a shreik and I'd hit my mate Tom on the bottom lip, don't worry, no blood was drawn. I got a royal bollocking and pistol was confiscated for 2 weeks. I suspect the sods of earth were more dangerous though but no bollocking for those 3 LOL.

My first pistol was a .22 BSA Scorpion (so heavy I could barely aim it at the age of 8, I had to wedge the plastic silencer in the corner of the inside of the shed door and put my weight against it just to cock it as a kid, 50 years later it’s still awkward to cock!

my first airgun was a BSA Airsporter S but the first I used was a friends Gat gun pistol and I am sure another friend had a Gat rifle.I must admit I did buy a diana pistol chrome with wooden a handle about 25 years ago for £3 at a garage sale and that has the same push in barrel and loading system as the Gat and Istill have.I also have a BSA 240 magnum which is a lot more powererful and accurate but hitting cans with a fixed sight Diana is more of an achievement than using a proper air gun so I understand fully what you mean in your video.What I will say is sometimes a low powered air gun can be a lot more dangerous because the BBs or pellets can richochet back so eye protection for you and anybody near by is very important.Happy Christmas Nick and family keep them videos coming. Webley Jaguar 177. It was actually my mates gun. But I learned how to shoot it. My dad had an Airsporter Mk2 but it was much too heavy for me. I used to follow my dad around in the summer nights in 1965 to carry the 3/4 grown rabbits he used to shoot. He often would quarter these and pan fry one with runner beans when we got back. He said it was his favourite meal. He was a farm labourer at the time and we had rabbit about 3 times a week. In 1967 when I was 12 he let me fire 10 shots an evening at tin cans about 25 yards. That is when my love for air rifles started. He sold the Airsporter eventually but I never forgot it's sleek lines. I picked one up on Gun Trader a few weeks back. Very twangy so my next project is to get it to shoot sweet.

When I was four years old my dad bought me a break barrel, double barreled pop gun. I can remember being very disappointed that I couldn't hit anything with it and had a paddy! However, dad to the rescue with a few drops of 3-in-1 on the washers, with a large brass drawing pin in the end of the cork and a smear of Vaseline on its side all was good. I was soon happily plinking tin cans at 10 feet - happy days😁😁

Amazing memories. My first gun was a GAT and my mate Peter had a Milbro G10. They probably had the same lack of power but I thought the G10 looks amazing. I then got a Webley Tempest that I loved and for Christmas 1976 (I was 14) my parents got me a Diana model 79 rifle and I thought I was the bees knees. I noticed that the Umarex DX 17 is 40 quid in the UK. Worth it but what a mark up.

Hi Nick , excellent episode as usual, I loved the comment about eating silica gel . perhaps We could have a collection of all those little bags of the stuff and donate it to the impoverished wealthy so they have plenty to stuff their turkey/ goose with on Christmas day Lol . My first experience of guns was in the early 1960s when I was Very young probably only 3 years old , My stepfather had recently returned from Alaska , he'd been prospecting for Gold , and just about broken even on his adventure and had returned with about 5 or 6 grams of dust in a test tube , a 45/70 under lever rifle ( Bear Protection ) and a single shot 410 shotgun . He had to surrender the 45/70 as he didn't have the correct licence in this country but his still valid shotgun certificate meant he could keep his 410 which We used for rabbits and small game , he had also brought back a nice all steel and wood double barrel cork gun for Me which I wasn't strong enough to cock complete with a wooden forestock . Over the next few years I accumulated quite a collection of the obligatory cowboy 6 shooters cap guns and both pump action and break barrel cork guns rifles/ shotguns bought cheap at Jumble sales, if You remember the days before car boot sales became the norm . Then one day I discovered the "Sekadon/ Segadon " ? pistol ( I can remember the exact spelling ) plastic ball shooters with a sliding rear sight that slid forward to reveal the 100 shot magazine and a very stiff trigger that launched the hollow plastic bb's ,it was great for knocking down plastic cowboys and Indian's or plastic tanks etc., when it didn't jam because the bb's had split open in the mechanism, eventually I was gifted aOld but very well used pop out Gat style Diana pistol with wooden grips and a slightly off canter barrel (it was bent) , I had to put it onto a small block of wood and put all My weight on it to cock it at first ( I was probably only about 8 or 9 at the time) and My first air rifle came a few years later , Iv'e loved airguns ever since. I could go on about dozens of "Toy guns" I picked up when ever I saw something I'd never seen before , most of the decent ones ended up as gifts for the children of My friends and family and the rest probably got binned most of the airguns got sold to fund the petrol tyre and chain demands of My first motorcycle , Iv'e accumulated several air rifles and pistols since then but remember all of them with a fondness some of them probably don't really merit . Thanks Nick , isn't Nostalgia great for granting a nice rosy tint to the past . Getting back to the present I'd say the DX 17 resembles a sort of cross between the Hi Point 10 mm pistol and the Hi Point 10 mm carbine without the stock . At the time I had no idea about how critical hold was, nor did I know the importance of finding the correct pellet, needless to say, I wasn't very accurate with it. I bought a G10 just for the fun of it around about 1996 ,about the same time as my HW97K Mk1 . Anyway it's been untouched for all this time and I discovered it once again languishing at the bottom of the wardrobe in a shoe box. Cool, I thought, I'll have a tinker with it. I started stripping it down with visions of lubing what internals it might have and maybe swapping any springage there may be. Yeah, that didn't go to plan. It's made of cheese or chineseium metal and brittle plastic. The parts just disintegrated before my eyes. Gutted. It still fired and functioned perfectly but I couldn't resist having a tinker. Nick I blame you, I've watched all your tuning videos and you make it look ridiculously straightforward. For God's sake man, spare a thought for the ham-fisted halfwits like me 😂😂😂

The 1st air gun i got was an original model 5 back in 1988. I had it for competition shooting at the local pony club. I remember shooting a magpie out of the air with it and all my friends threatening to tell my mum on me. The seals eventually went knackered and the gun shop told me it wasnt worth fixing so i binned it. They're worth a few hundred quid now😢

My first was a gat with a set of darts my second gun was a huge step up it was my dads webley Tempest .177 my third was a crossman pump rifle pellet or bb 5 pumps and no sparrow was safe fourth air arms S200 then fifth BSA R12 clx pro .177 and my current gun is a FX King Nordic wolf .177 and I love it along the way I had a shotgun lisence and owned a lamber and a beretta 686 sporting.
