I’m guilty of echoing students’ sentences sometimes for correction purposes. For example, if I want to highlight correct tense or subject verb agreement, etc. I do use other correction techniques also to try and mix up my correction methods. Should I avoid echoing as a correction method?

I think they were referring to interfering while they are having paired conversations? I am also a little bit uncertain about what they meant there. Giving a 'recast' as error correction is a very useful teacher intervention I think (if done in a pedagogically safe environment of course ;-)).

When I was a student myself, I sometimes lacked the volume from my classmates (when they answered teachers' questions or did an exersise out loud). Did the teacher hear? Well, ok, let's move on! .... Well, no! I want to study too. If i'm not sure of the answer, and I didn't hear someone else's answer either, how will I learn? Sometimes it CAN be quite useful for the teacher to repeat it louder.
