Senna could tell there was something wrong with his car when his crew thought it was fine(later they found a bad cam shaft) Andretti couldn't have been able to tell if something was wrong if the car was on fire.

how much of a amateurs he retired race because of not having fuel.....

Either you can save fuel to finish the race with no point or just go for a fight. Ford engine was way under power.
