One thing to note, is that Boeing workers are playing hardball because they'd absorbed hits as workers over the past few years. Meanwhile CEOs got huge payouts as they mismanaged the company. Now they're finally asking for what they're owed. That's why the starting talk was 25% pay increase.
@ASDeckardАй бұрын
Something fun to note, literally all upper management pay at Boeing adds up to 300 million per year. Yes, that includes the CEO, CFO, ect. Yes, that includes stock options, travel expenses, ect, ect, all compensation, everything. For all 2K managers and the upper management. That is 9 thousand a year per striking employee, or 2 thousand a year per Boeing's entire employee base. Not the million employees that work at places they contract with who say 'I work for Boeing,' but their actually on the record staff. Literally only 2k a year, when the average Boeing employee makes over 100K. The 25% pay increase they offered was literally the mechanical upper limit on what the company could in theory afford if everything went financially perfect for the next ten years. Boeing already spends 16 *billion* paying their lower employees. 16 *billion.* To refresh, their entire management class only costs them 300 million per year.

As far as the Boeing strike goes, Boeing employees are generally underpaid compared to other companies in the aviation industry like airlines and shit. Mechanics and QA inspectors and all those kinds of jobs. Boeing came offering a 25% raise but the union handed out fliers back during the summer showing what the union was demanding going into it and they wanted a 75% raise, so it’s obvious that we’re all gonna vote to strike if we feel exploited by a shit corporation that isn’t paying us enough and their response to our ask is to basically give very little and try to sweeten it with stock and investment programs or whatever. Also offered a 3k bonus if the contract was accepted, but people have been talking about it where I work at since like this time last year, everyone was on the same page that we were basically gonna strike no matter what. And this was before even the whole door blowout mid-flight incident. It’s been a pretty big deal for everyone getting ready for this
