This broadcast seems pretty old, he's done a full season in Formula 3 already. The great part of that story is, he crashed on Donington in a F4, and qualified pole on the F3 race at Donington. What a lad!

@@ffab101p121 I didn´t find anything but I think he is ok. The nose of Billy´s car and the back of the other one absorbet most of the energy. The head of the driver is pretty fixed with an HANS-Device. Probably "only" a whiplash injury

I've never met anyone without a lot to prove, I've met a world rally champion, a 3 time motorcycle grand prix world champion, a WSBK champion, several British champions of motorsport. But I'm yet to meet one without anything to prove.

I remember when this happened, I knew the cousin of Billy and together we raised over £100 for him. I know it’s not much but when we were both 10 it was the best we could do. Glad* he is racing again

Just watched this on BBC 2. I really loved the way Billy was able to tell this story. I loved the compassionate way it was filmed and the speed at which the program started and carried on, it really felt like 90 mins but also just wanting to hear more. Based on talent alone he really is one of those 1 drivers that come around 20-30 years. Thank you to Billy and his family for being so open, count me in as a new fan. Thanks also to the team that put this together, award winning work! (Also Lewis, what a legend and a great friend!)

If I watched this video at that time, my life might change. I regret to quite racing now, but I can’t change this situation. Therefore, I want you to be important to decision for everything. Dorian Vigneaux this is a reference to rush (2013) telling the story of the 1976 f1 world championship between niki lauda and James hunt. Lauda had a life changing accident on 1 August 1976 where he was caught inside his burning car. Lauda had to get his lungs vaccumed. Lauda then returned to the Italian gp just 42 days later. Fighting through the pain to put on his helmet in a similar way to what monger is doing now.

A strength of character that shows in his recovery and in his return to competition. It’s a quality that separates winners apart from others. His appearances on C4 F1 also show how intelligent and level headed this guy is. The day he drives out of the pits in an F1 car for a team evaluation the whole motor sport world will be watching. His attitude and resilience will also inspire others who have lost limbs to a faster recovery. Can’t wait to see you win your first F1 race Billy.

It is very tough to live through something like this. I am not a racer, but I did get back up after being ran over and left there, leaving me an amputee. I was able to become a wife, mother, clerical, and was able to find happiness along the way!

I too am an amputee from a traumatic experience.. It is very tough because it’s not like a sickness that you get over. It’s something you continuously live and for this guy to keep positive is a big deal.. People like you posting kind words helps amputees like me stay positive.. Thank you for that!
