I'm surprised you didn't mention what happened to the colonists that had been enthralled by the Thorian, and that they retained the telepathic link, which also made them resistant to Reaper Indoctrination.
@RRW3592 жыл бұрын
Also Shephard seemed a bit resistant to indoctrination (although depending on how you interpret the ending probably succumbed to it at least partially eventually). The entire time I was on Ferros I was wondering why Shephard wasn't infected by the Thorian and I'm starting to think he was.

@@RRW359 You know, that *would* explain a lot about Shepard's unique resistance to indoctrination...

@@The_Keeperwhile that sounds plausible, I don’t think it’s acknowledged anywhere else in the sequels…unfortunately. In general, I wish they would’ve used/explored some of these subtle hooks from ME1 and really gone for a main plot where the goal was to find a way to stop the killer robot-Cthulhus, not try and go toe-to-toe with them. I’m talking about things like the Thorian spores and the dormant state Reapers go into, which Vigil mentions.

Ahh, the Thorian. It's kind of amazing how many different sources of zombies the Mass Effect universe has. I love it. Feros gave me a definite 'Shadows Over Innsmouth' vibe, too, and didn't disappoint with the big finish. It was just a great mission all the way through, one of my favorites in the game.

i've always thought that the thorian was likely to be almost as old as the leviathans, with just how much knowedlege it held and it's rather long hibernation cycles.

It's also the only know creature to immune to indoctrination, and the asari given to it was also freed from indoctrination from intertwining with it.

I doubt that a plant-like lifeform would die from what happened. It is still there, and maybe 1,000 years later, it will have grown a new 'head,' if not sooner.

Reapers focused on advanced civilizations. I suppose being a giant plant and NOT the dominant life form on Feros developing technology, the Reapers likely saw it as nothing but a plant and not needing to be eradicated.

Anyone know how many sentient plant species there are in popular science fiction/fantasy? The first I had ever heard of were the Vegetons. There were the Delvians. The Vliste-Staba. The Forestals of the One Forest. Old Man Willow/The Ents. (...have to skip the haunted oak tree). Dryads of Narnia. Groot. The Cotati. Question: Why aren't there more plant based sentient life forms in science fiction? It would be great if they had their own science and non human based understanding of history And Nevertheless chose to present themselves at least some of the time as humanoid.

The Unfallen from the Endless Space 2 game is also a plant species. They're actual tree people with some unique tech and a weird way of colonizing other system.

I wonder how effective the Thorian was in suppressing the Reapers indoctrination. Probably able to absorb biological components and maybe braking down unorganic materials too? Shiala states in one of her mail later that she still hears the calling of the reapers from the time before Saren "gifted" her to the Thorian. Imagine an alternate reality/cycle where the reapers fought against the Thorian and his spawns. From Shiala's clones we now that the Thorian however it does it copy things like weapons and armors too, (the later may not be relevant for the storyline and one could say, the clones where nacked) but i think mimicking technology, even if it is most likely just to cut on development and make the fight more interesting, puts it in a whole new level. Also remember that examples found outside of Ferros still seem to be somehoe connected to the Thorian (if i remember right it was the planet Nordacrux).
