I think that they were meant to be the dominant race in the next cycle. Primitive, extremely resilient and adaptable. If the reapers had won the vorcha would have emerged and repopulated the galaxy. Like it happened with Innusaris, Protheans, Asari and arguably humans. With endless space to expand and the technologies left by the other races they would eventually become wiser and more civilised.

Tbh, the Vorcha should have been through several cycles surviving due to a lack of advanced culture. Use of the Vorcha should also have been one of those optimisation things the reapers did to shrink cycles. Along with the Rachni to explain the fake queen. The rachni force a galactic war and war means improved technology, while the Vorcha cause ethical conundrums while also enhancing galactic armies and biology. @@Eisenwulf666 My ruthless calculus for the repear war was to step 1: Cure the genophage. Step 2: Prioritize defensive operations around all high asari, krogan and vorcha population bodies. Earth would've been left to twist in the wind. Step 3: This is ofcourse bidding time to turn E.D.I. Into the von nuuman appocalypse she was always embodied to be. Step 4: Begin systematically opening dormant relays, in a desperate attempt to alter the strategic sittuation. Step 5: Conscript all incoming able bodied refugees. Step 6: Create the equivalence of the spanish inquisition to deal with the indoctrination vector. No way was my shepeard going to become a husk. All the vorcha got was a fighter squadron, which makes sense, as in WW2 the limitation of small aircraft waves, is that strategically the planes were always far easier to replace than the pilots. A hyper species like this, I can actually see one raised as an engineer to be supremely suited for it. To have a maximum lifespan of 20 years with survivalist capability, that means the species has a similarly bolstered learning capability. Raise it in an extreme tech environment, you have great tech savvy guys. They are a potential blight upon the galaxy if someone does that to a lot of them as they pass the behavior to their descendants.

The fascinating thing about Vorcha is that they are stuck in their development in a state between animal and sentient beeing. They are clearly capable of learning to an extent but not enough to form coherent social structures. One could say they are the neanderthals of the galaxy. I wish this aspect of evolution was explored further in the game, what to do with races that show clear signs of sentience but just aren't evolved enough to become a part of the galactic civilization.

Basically the Asari help develop the vorcha colony and educated them. It work fine at first but the problem with the Vorcha is there short life expediency, since they die off so quickly they are unable to help educate the younger generations and Vorcha breed quickly. Eventually the colony fell into anarchy after overpopulation and lack of educated individuals. The colony ended in failure.

I really love the Vorcha, although I think that their origins don't make sense. We see on earth that populations who live in harsh climates tend to be very social and have a strict code of norms, often dogmatic in nature(granted they are humans, but let's pretend similar habitats grant similar responses) . The assumption that short life spans didn't allow them to develop a social structure, a culture or even science it's all kind of wrong. 1)life spans are relative for each race. Asari and Krogans(and other races) live many centuries, to them humans are incredibly short lived. Primates don't even live 20 years in the wild and yet they have developed a social structure, they feel loss and anguish if someone they love dies and we have plenty of examples of them teaching their young what they've learned. 2) they contradict themselves since Salarians too have shorter life spans (30-35) and yet they are extremely advanced 3)bees, ants and other arthropods that live in colonies (and yes I know there are several species of them that lead a solitary life) are incredibly short lived to our standards and yet they live in hives with strict roles and have evolved strategies to counter many type of dangers(floods, fires, extreme weather, predators). Seems strange the Vorcha didn't evolve to either :a) have a slower reproduction rate b) live in colonies to ensure the little resources they have will be distributed among the members of the colony. What could grant a similar evolutionary impasse would be if some sort of predator or natural phenomenon that used to kill a vast number of them had suddenly ceased to be a factor. We as a species are arguably facing overpopulation problems now because our medicine and technology allow us to live longer and not starve, but that's a very recent development. Couple of centuries, even less if we are talking about medical progress. Living in an incredibly hostile environment and having overpopulation problems just don't fit with a savage non society. Even with borderline super regeneration. A parallel that comes to mind are rats and mice: incredibly resilient and resistant, short life spans and fast reproduction rates. But they too are social animals wich prefer to live in groups. Skaven in space? Probably but the Skaven are the most technologically advanced race in warhammer so...

As long as the next Mass Effect game DOESN'T involve Shepherd then it will be a good game. Don't get me wrong, I did like playing as Shepherd. But as the developers themselves said at the beginning of the production process of Mass Effect Andromeda, "Commander Shepherd's story is done". That means, essentially, that Commander Shepherd is...how shall I put this...whacked, kacked, snuffed, erased, cleaned, k.i.a., rubbed-out, eliminated, terminated, capped, history, kicked the bucket, bought the farm, taking a dirt nap, pushing up daisies, feeding the worms, sleeping, D.-E.-D. (DEAD!!). Far too many people seem UNABLE to let go of Shepherd, mainly because in my opinion it seems to me like they lack the intelligence and mental capacity to ever be able to understand grasp or comprehend the fact that Shepherd is nothing more than a fictional game character, and so instead they act like Shepherd is a real person who has died. The very same people who hated Mass Effect Andromeda simply because it didn't have Commander Shepherd in it. Those people need to accept the fact that Shepherd is dead and gone, and GET OVER IT and MOVE ON!!!! Just my own personal opinion anyway.
