The only reggae artist my father commented on because he sang "Tell me who's gonna praise Jehovah" since he was having trouble following the song until he heard Jehovah. RIP Pop and Clive 🙏🏽

He was very humble I had the opportunity to meet him when he was in Miami staying at a house I'm my neighborhood I was only 15 or 16. This was the time when he was playing at a big stage show called "Heat in the Place" many jamaican singers performed such as yami bolo when he was very young, supacat, nicodemus and a few others. The home was either owned or rented by a popular Jamaican name Skengdon.

It really is unsettling how many of these reggae artists - and how frequently - end in such tragic demises. Also, how often they end up penniless when reggae is such a profitable, globally embraced enterprise and has been so for multiple decades. Curious.

Life is one big road with a lot of signs... my favorite song of his. I had the vinyl 12 inch. He was hanging around Addie’s sound on Schenectady Ave, Brooklyn NY in the 1980s and where I met him. Back then, the crack and cocaine use were heavy and he was on drugs. He left for Texas and that’s when I heard he was killed. So sad he didn’t have the guidance and a manager back then. He had a son in Brooklyn they used to call “Nine-a-saw.”
