Every year it amazes me how some folks don’t understand deer camp. It is not all about killing deer. It is about tradition and family. Harvesting a nice buck is just a bonus. I’m sure that Joe can afford a membership in a hunting club or to go on a fancy paid hunt if he wanted to. Hell he could shoot deer from his backyard. I feel sorry for those of you that don’t understand.
@Doug-rp5ikАй бұрын
I own my own ranches here in Texas, we use to hunt like they do, if we would take a buck you were happy, no matter the size, now everyone is so management minded, it takes a lot of the fun out of it, especially when someone says why did you shoot that buck, it too young/small. Two of my ranches are in AR counties, one is not. I enjoy this channel the most , cooking good food, hunting with family and friends is what it’s all about. I too could afford these “trophy “ bucks we have in Texas, but it’s just not real to me. I have camp houses on two of my places and I live on one, I’m always the cook. Good luck , stay safe and keep these videos coming.

You have to be one who goes to deer camp every year. When it's the season I can't help but want to be at camp. Like you said, it goes well beyond the hunt. It is the camp lifestyle that draws us.

I just can’t get enough of these videos, I’m watching on my big screen, I watch all the oldies, from duck hunting to deer hunting, and on the homestead. They are so real, no over acting or reacting, no loud annoying music, it’s just them being them. I’m not what you call a duck hunter, but I do buy a stamp every year just for support , because I have lots of ducks on my ranches most years. I do enjoy the cooking they do too, because I’m the cook. My farthest ranch is a four hour drive from home. I have been grilling more too, especially pork steaks.

Been a while since I have commented but this year is probably the last year my 92 year old Dad will be at deer camp. I see myself in your videos of camp, not so much about deer as it's the tradition. Bought my cabin about 4 years ago and my experiences mirror yours to a tee. Our opener in WI is Saturday and we'll put another year in the books. Thanks for sharing Joe.

Whether or not my brother and dad got a deer, it was the best time they ever had year after year. Some years they got deer, some years they saw them too far away to shoot. My dad passed this last year and tomorrow is his birthday. Enjoy the family time, it’s more than the hunt. Also, my mom and I got to hit the casino and had the same luck sometimes a winner and sometimes a loser. 🤣Thank you for sharing

I admire how you got your kids into hunting, my sisters never deer hunted but my older granddaughters did, they both have taken nice bucks, but kinda given up on hunting, it seems Sara really enjoys hunting and that’s great. My grandsons hunt, fish and are not slowing down a bit. I love yalls deer camp and the meals you make. I started a lot of grilling at my cabins after I started watching. Keep the good videos coming, you are my favorite, hands down. I watch them over and over in my big screen. My grandpa lived deer hunting and all the sons and grandsons keep it going.

We are always at the mercy of the weather elements. You take rains and the winds and old dead trees you have some fallen clean up time. Just like we dealt with in WNC when Helene hit in September. My little slice of paradise didn't stand a chance when the 36 hours of rains had swollen all the area creeks into ragging rivers. I lived in a townhouse where the closest trees were 100-150 yards away. But after Sept 27 all 9 townhomes had massive tree trunks blocking all doors and windows.

I find it amazing that these camps and cabins are not broken into and items stolen. I can only assume it is the life style and honesty of people living in the area. I could see someone being stranded due to vehicle breakdown and enter a cabin for long enough to make it thru the night and get help. How much land do individuals on average own in that area? Like do you own maybe 20 acres in there. You most likely mentioned this in a previous video about how all this property ownership works in the area. It sounds like the state owns all the land and maybe you get to own a tiny parcel. I still have some pump up lanterns. Can be very laud. Melissa will be upset that you are using vegetable oil cooking. Smart woman. I do love these two hour videos. So much more information.
