As usual, love it. Nothing like a weekend in the North Woods, especially as the seasons change to cold and you can enjoy the warmth of a wood stove. It's funny how the labors of maintaining a place only used as a getaway are so less taxing than the same chores at home. Also amazing is how people seem to collect stuff. A few yrs ago, the shelves were bare when you shut down deer camp. This yr you had enough dry goods left to supply a dozen weekend trips and it hardly looked like you brought anything home.

Thank you for the videos. I vicariously live through your videos to reminisce my youth with my grandfather. You have a simple approach, for an otherwise simple experience, but make it rich with the 'experience' of sharing your experiences and your family's experience on video. My job and my location don't allow me to do the things I did in my youth, but I feel like I've experienced it watching you.

Joe, I stumbled upon this video series last week and have to tell you I love it. My husband worked for the U.S. Forest Service and his first job when he came home from Vietnam was in Cook, Mn. Both of his kids (my stepdaughters) were born in Virginia (Iron Rangers!). He eventually moved to Vermont (Green Mountains) and served his last 35 years there. He saved calendars from the 70's that were made in Cloquet by a match company based there. They feature Canadian Mounties painted by a well known artist, and he has many of them. If you would like them, drop me a line and I will send them to you. I would love to see them on your tent walls. He loved Mn and his time there. He is no longer with us, but my love and memory of him lives on. Peace.

Just curious to know why you have to hike the lake during the winter time? is it because the roads going in aren't plowed? I'm sure you mentioned in a video and I missed it. BTW great videos, I love watching them, makes me a bit jealous.

You could sure use tires with Microbit technology; what they mean is that they put walnut shells into the softer rubber. I call them 'walnut tires. The Toyo "Observe" brand of tires have walnut bits, as well as Nitto makes a walnut tire. I highly recommend them for winter driving; you don't have to stop and put on chains and take them off.
