Joel, every time you show me the lake and boat with Melissa and you, I get real jealous of the two of you. My wife and I would go fishing just like you do, except my wife died 7 years ago and now at 77, I am all by myself. I love how the two of you enjoy each other.

Hey, Joe have you and Melissa thought about planting lavender, rosemary, lemongrass and sweet woodruff around the tent to keep the black flies and mosquitoes away. You should put some lavender in pots around the tent door front and back. Hope it help in the up coming years.

The Coffee ground tip has been AWESOME here in Ohio.........TYVM Joe. I even cleaned 12 Walleye last night and no flies were around, smoldering coffee grounds must be the ticket. I tried this 3 nights and no problem with evening bugs. Thanks for best tip I've heard of in a long time.

Joe, We use paper towels with vanilla on them for the gnats, I always where a hat so I just hang it through the adjuster hole in the back, the rest pin on patches of towels or put some on their arms, it is a bit sticky for me, so I use the paper towels, they also say the vanilla car air fresheners around the neck on a string work too.

A great day to be fishing. I think this has been one of your great days doing the fishing gig. (That I have seen). Joe I have only been watching your channel the last 3-4 years. I know absolutely knowing about fishing. However I see that fishing the way you all do would not be so bad. I just don't think I could cast my pole and have to wait forever for a bite. My dad enjoyed fishing but I never caught the bug. If I ever get the chance and want to splurge I would consider going on a fishing charter on the ocean. But to each his own. That is what makes this old world go around.

Joe, just a tip I learned the hard way years ago, put a chain on the motor from a cleat through a part on the motor, making a loop incase it should come loose. I had one drop into the lake on Lake Huron in Cedarville Michigan and thankfully it was only in 5' of water, clamps worked loose. Yes I had to go swimming to retrieve it but I saved it. Cost $300 to have redone but those old Johnsons are worth it.

There is a hole in each of the tightener handle things that you use to tighten the motor to the transom. I have a string that ties them together so they can not come undone.

Those foggers are good. I used moth ball flakes sprinkles around the tent and in and around the firewood. It’s just naphthaline and does a good job with a lot of different insects as well as raccoon. It breaks down but is still effective for several days while you’re there. Just a thought. Great channel.

The neighbors next door to me are feeding anything that is out there. Now no one can put their garbage out until that morning because of raccoons. And the squirrels are digging holes in my flower beds and pulling out my bulbs. I am so sick of fighting rodents and raccoons this year. What deters squirrels? Anyone have some ideas?

Maybe it’s already been suggested, but if you move the trim tab below the cavitation plate in the same direction as the pull the steering will require less work. Great motor. 😁

That motor has a fixed trim tab. I have no adjustment. I did however tighten the screw that tightens the tiller right to left movement. I am hoping that helps.

Man, that little a/c unit does a great job cooling the tent! The coffee ground is a great bug-away formula. Hope you keep track of the conditions, and statistics on the weather, when catching multiple fish, and where! That was a good haul of fish.....fiest tonite!!!!!! That 9.5hp, for being such an older motor, is moving you great, and running great...Joe, you should install some PVC pipe to the back of your trailer to be able to see where your trailer is behind your truck when there is no boat on there.....

Joe, I offered to bring a tractor and chisel plow over to your Nowthen garden. I've given advice on Briggs Lake since that's where I live... I even drove past your farmhouse stopping at a buddy of mine's parents. We had been in contact by email at one point in the past. My new place at Highland is just over an hour away from the tent - and I have the equipment and supplies to make those bugs go away. I am willing to drive up and show you how to handle the problem, no strings attached. I am going to be at my Highland property the whole July 4th week if you are interested in me coming up.
