The Tequila Blob

Although controversial in some circles the Blob is an attractor pattern that holds a regular place in my stillwater pattern line up. Like its cousin the Booby there are times when a Blob moving at pace can shake non-feeding trout into an aggressive strike. It is also a good pattern option when trout are focused on tiny zoo plankton. The Tequila color combination is one of my personal favourites.

thanks for the pattern Phil... I'll be sure to tie a few for this season. I have heard of it before but never tried it... a fine gentleman in a pontoon boat at Pat Lake made me a believer.

Phil, Headed up to Wasley in a couple of weeks. How does one fish the blob effectively?

Hi, we most often fish Blobs and similar attractor patterns such as Booby's and FAB's using fast sinking lines and a brisk strip retrieve to trigger a strike. You can also add a matching bead head to this fly and suspend a Blob under and indicator. I hope this helps, thanks Phil

Hi, this is a wet fly. It is an attractor that is most often fished on a sinking line at a brisk pace to trigger a reaction from the fish. We fish Booby's the same way. Thanks, Phil
