I like that Wes always asks "Do you remember the first time you saw it?". Such a good question that leads us into the movie.

So cool that you guys acknowledge how great Michael Biehn is. If you guys haven't already, you should check out his two appearances on the Inside of You Podcast pretty recently, within the past year. He comes across as one of the most honest and sincere actors out there. He says he's sober now and looks fully recovered from his stroke and still loves acting. Let's hope we get to see more of him performing in the coming years.

I born in 1984 and when I was like 4, 5 my dad have a vhs recorder (which was rare at that time in my country). So one night he said to me "I record the terminator, a movie about a robot which has to kill a woman, check it out" and he recorded the last scene, like when the truck get on fire, the robot burn and the final chase at the factory. Off course I love it, but for YEARS I believe that THAT was the whole movie. I don't know, I was little. But people was "remember when he mess his eyes in the bathroom?" and I was like "what bathroom? that scene is isn't in the movie".

The factory at the end is actually cyberdyne if you check out deleted scenes. They basically delivered the chip and endoskeleton directly to be reverse-engineered

I was at Air Force Officer Training School and saw this movie on base at night. We went as a group (we did everything as a group) and we had to wear our uniforms (because we always wore uniforms). We were all pretty amazed. Our expectation was that it would be stupid. After “I’ll be back” I was sold. I saw T2 while assigned to the USS JF Kennedy (I flew with the Navy for a while), and it was even more amazing. When Linda Hamilton was doing pull ups and all muscled up, one of the pilots in the squadron said “I want her”. We all fell over laughing because A) we were all married, and B) Like, yeah?! I think this movie began my fascination with AIs. You could not have a 20 year military career and not believe that Terminators would be created as soon as possible. I think that they ‘d have a sliver of soul in their minds. “I’ll be back” is not a necessary communication for a robot. In fact, it’s deleterious. But, it’s consistent with a bad ass with self awareness. So…a tiny sliver of soul. I’m a Guy who loves your podcast. Great teaming of an actor and a writer together.

I saw Terminator on VHS. I knew it was going to be good when there was text crawling at the beginning of the movie😂. I was probably 8 or 9 yrs old when I saw it. I just loved it! I didn’t realize it, but I love stories with a female protagonist who find their power. I think Terminator is a great romance story with some action scenes. I fell in love with Kyle Reece/ Michael Biehn.

I had the best intentions to listen to this live, but then I promised myself I'll be back. It always bugged me how the VHS box had a picture of Arnie on the cover with The Terminator above it, spoiling the first part of the movie when you're not supposed to know which one of the two characters who travelled back in time is the villain.

Man, The Terminator is my all time favourite film. It's just so good. I saw it on VHS when I was a kid around 10 or something. I just love how it's so bleak and smart and the way it was made too. Loved watching this (as it happens I was painting my terminator minis for the Terminator Genisys the Miniatures Game) as I don't get the opportunity to just talk about The Terminator with my friends. So it was really fun to be a part of your discussion if only tangentially

Just love your enthusiasm. Like goshing over favourite movies with your buddies :) One thing though: The future battlefield scenes in Terminator 1 are among the best ever. Since I was a kid, I wanted a whole movie set in this world, with that exact visual direction. I do get your point about text scrolls however...never gave it much thought, now I kind of hate them, too.

How did you like Terminator Salvation?
@tommc3622
@tommc3622 5 ай бұрын
There is only one Terminator movie. The resistance had stormed the time displacement complex. Skynet sent a single T-800 to 1984. The resistance sent Reese after it, and blew the complex. ... "Nobody goes home and nobody else comes through." ... "Well don't you have ray-guns or something?" ... "Something about the field generated by a living organism. Nothing dead will go." ... I guess the audience is supposed to forget about the main plot device for the sequels. 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️
@theMLBfan
@theMLBfan 5 ай бұрын
They could've found a second complex that Skynet built. One with more advanced capabilities that could send a T1000 through. 🤷‍♂️

Possible. But none of that is ever shown or explained to us. All we, as the audience know, is that a T-1000 can't travel through time.

Re Ty's desire to avoid text crawls: I was at university in the 80's and saw Highlander on VHS with a bunch of other students and so many were confused by what was going on. Some actually left! Typical comment 'why are there hills above the car park?' That was when young me realised that a degree don't mean you're smart. So, I am with him 100% but I can see why Hollywood execs might want to spoonfeed the masses!

You guys mentioned “the hight of rampart” at 41:58. If you look at the walls of the police station during the shootout, there is a map that says “rampart” on it in one of the offices. I don’t know if you were directly referring to that, but, I thought it was an interesting detail. It’s on Traxler’s door when he tells Sarah “Stay here”. Btw, model 101 refers to what the T-800 looks like. It’s the designation for its disguise. I’m a dork, lol. Great video guys 👍🏻

Agreed about Michael Biehn that he should have been a rock star in the world of actors. Recently watched him in an MK Ultra type of action flick called Time Bomb and he was amazing in it. Not a great film but he rises above the bad direction and unfinished looking special effects. There's an interview with Hamilton during Dark Fate on a talk show and she revealed that she almost didn't do The Terminator because of A.S. She knew who he was but she was very wary. She got on set when they were filming him alone because Cameron was really hoping to convince her and she eventually thought OK, she could do it. She reveals this sitting right next to Arnold and he was completely shocked and had no idea that had happened.

Absolutely LOVE this film. Saw it when i was 8 or 9 (80s parenting was the best. My mum still swears she didn't let me watch it but i would not have had to explain the timey wimey aspect to my babysitter, she would've got it and mum barely understands Back to the Future soooo case closed). I absolutely loved it from the first watch and must have seen it dozens of times. I don't recall ever noticing Arnold's dong and for me Reece was absolutely the star of the show from the beginning. I loved that character and MB's performance was pitch perfect. Linda's was too and i always think of it as far more of a star crossed love story than an action film. Their timey wimey arc is just heartbreakingly cruel fate but i love it. I also can't really watch the theatrical cut of T2 after seeing the director's cut, as it puts that aspect back in, with the dream sequence of MB in the hospital. I get that it needed to be a popcorn movie for the theatres but that scene puts the heart back into the narrative for me and i can't watch without it now.

It's worth pointing out that in the Fallout universe, the timeline diverged from ours in the 50s and technology and society didn't really advance the same way ours did. In fact when the bombs dropped, it was actually in 2077, but the world resembles more of what people in the 50s beleived the future would be like.

The Terminator is truly an amazing science fiction horror classic. Recently watched a 35mm scan of it and the grunginess of it is still one of the best things about it. Linda Hamilton is the real centerpiece of this film and the soundtrack is awesome to this day. For some reason, this film has got some serious John Carpenter vibes to it. When I watch it, I can't help but wonder what if John Carpenter had directed this film instead. It just seems like a film that was made just for him to make. I do agree that after the second film, the others don't exist but I actually really like Dark Fate. It feels like a proper sequel even though John Connor gets killed in it. That was a real drag but it's still pretty good.
