The first time I saw Terminator on the Sega CD was at my local rental game store and it also was one of the first times I saw what a game played from a CD looked like. The gameplay was smooth as butter and the high quality soundtrack was unique. The FMV cutscenes might look like a blurry mess by today's standards but back then, seeing actual scenes from the movie ingame was mind blowing enough to say the least.

It’s been two years since then and I’m so mad he hasn’t blown up. I found him about a year ago and have been slowly making my way through his backlog, and he’s ALWAYS been likeable as hell. His presentation has matured and become super professional, but for at least 2-3 years now (2023January) he’s been incredibly professional and deserving of FAR more renown.

@Anton eckhart They are definitely worth owning. There is something so enjoyable about the pick up and play nature of the games which you do not find as much on modern systems. At the end of the day these are video game systems that were released 30 years ago and things just break and you have to expect that unless you find one rebuilt or reconditioned. A Polymega might not be a bad idea and you will be able to hook it up to a modern TV easier.

The game was awesome, and one of the games that made me relieved I had invested in the CD. I only wish that Alien 3- in some ways a very similar game- had had the same treatment. A3 was great too, but a second bite at that cherry could have produced a legendary game.

That's strange that you mention the genesis version having a short development time. I actually had the game pre-ordered from software etc and remember having my dad take me there to pick it up on two separate occasions just to have the cashier explain to us that the release date had been pushed back.

From segaretro.org: “The Sega Mega Drive version contains unused music tracks and animation quality is inconsistent. This hints that the game was rushed out in an unfinished state. The fact that a Sega Mega-CD version exists that is much richer in content and reuses certain sounds, fonts etc. as well as crediting ‘Dave Perry’ behind the original concept (Dave aka David Perry was the programmer of the Mega Drive version) further fortifies that”. It takes more than a personal experience to disprove a factuality.

The holdup could've been related to a dozen other things. Manufacturing problems, legal red tape, union strikes, company changing hands, etc. Not necessarily the game team's fault.

Definitely the best version of this game by far and probably my favourite run n' gun game. I even made a small hack to this game a little while ago, I replaced the ''Cybertek'' song on the Technoir bar stage with the song ''Photoplay'' by Tahnee Cain & Tryanglz from the movie to make the game feel more like the film. It wasn't just an MP3 track swap, I also hacked the ROM so the track name is listed in the sound test. There is nothing wrong with ''Cybertek'' but ''Photoplay'' is such a better song choce for that stage, it couldn't have been done back then due to licensing but nowadays the community is making all these wonderful things come to life.
