When you have a car and you have a motor and a battery and the wheels do spin for the first time you are basically done. You wont stop until both you and the car hit the road - license plate or not. Everything is going downhill now but a means to turn the wheel into the directing you want might might be a good idea and to have them pointing into the same direction would be great. It is far easier than what has already been done.

as per FAA Safety Alerts for Operators (SAFO) 0913: Fighting a Fire Involving Lithium Batteries: The technique for fighting a fire involving lithium batteries is the same, regardless if the battery is a disposable or rechargeable lithium battery or battery pack. • Relocate passengers away from the device. • Utilize a Halon, Halon replacement, or water fire extinguisher to prevent the spread of the fire to adjacent battery cells and materials. • Pour water, or other non-alcoholic liquid, from any available source over the cells immediately after knockdown or extinguishment of the fire. Only water or other non-alcoholic liquid can provide sufficient cooling to prevent re-ignition and/or propagation of the fire to adjacent batteries. Water, though it may react with the tiny amount of lithium metal found in a disposable battery, is most effective at cooling remaining cells, stopping thermal runaway and preventing additional flare-ups. Significant cooling is needed to prevent the spread of fire to additional cells in a battery pack.

@ivanwilliams3736 3 жыл бұрын
@@old_romans That is so counter-intuitive to what I know about lithium, but I guess the amount of lithium in each cell is fairly small. I use to work near a lithium mine in Nevada that had many barrels stored improperly. Eventually one of the barrels rusted enough to expose its contents to the atmosphere and shit hit the fan. Just the moisture in air was enough to ignite. I'm not sure of the exact details, but from what I remember being told the efforts to contain the spread involved using water. It didn't go well. However that was large concentrated amounts of lithium unlike batteries, so I can see how water would be beneficial under the event of an EV fire.

The carbon fibre will react with the steel. You need a layer of e-glasss to provide isolation from the steel. Aircraft use titanium fasteners in carbon composite due to the corrosion issue. I think you are also mistaken about the trunk. Being a Jag, it has a boot. :) You'll upset the geezers watching.

@EllaBananas

technically, yes! but then you need to control that voltage and current, modulate it in a way that gives you the appropriate speed, then you need safety limits to protect the motor from being driven too hard, then you'll want a lot of protections for that big battery to make sure it doesnt explode or catch fire spontaneously, and to keep it useable. and thats just the basic stuff!
