Kids tend to have all-or-nothing thinking patterns. They see one trailer park, that's rundown with drunks and drug addicts, and they think "all" trailer parks are like that. Then you have you adults who are narcissists, and they view everything in the world in terms of social status, and they see trailer parks as the lowest end of social status because before Regan was President, you rarely saw homeless people much less entire tent cities of homeless people like you do now. Thus, trailer parks were often the people who had the least money, and for a narcissist, that means you deserved to be mocked. Narcissists are people like Trump, Musk, Herschel Walker, and Liberace, and those are just some famous narcissists, there are a lot of people who look just like you and me, and some even living in the trailer park, are narcissists. They are always looking for someone to put down so they can feel superior to others. Narcissists always have to have bigger/better/faster/more and they need to live in the "best" zip code, and have the biggest house they can afford, and go to the best schools, driving the newest model car, having the prettiest wife or wealthiest husband. You've met people like this. They've everywhere, especially in states like Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, Florida, and even California. They are found in every religious community with their holier-than-thou attitude, looking down their noses at others, all so they can feel superior to them. The main theme is having a pathological need to feel superior to others. People like this come in every color, every religion, every political affiliation, every rural community, every big city, and everywhere in between.

They can also see, that the new owner can jack up the lot rent to whatever the market will bring. I've seen that happening all across California, beginning back in 2005-2006. The communities were not even for sale, but a large investment company went around and offered above-market prices. Owners sold, one by one, and the investment company doubled the lot rent, forcing people to pay thousands to move their mobile home elsewhere or to pay exorbitant fees. They did this slowly, and methodically, buying up one mobile home park after another. Retirees had to abandon their homes if they were on fixed incomes, as they couldn't afford to move or pay double the lot rent. Total psychopaths...all greed, no conscience, no basic human decency. It happened in DOZENS of mobile home parks across the state of California, with only those truly remote and undesirable locations (more than 2 hours outside a major city) being spared.

I love tiny homes.. I am from north texas southern Oklahoma and I wonder if many of these out of state people have ever been through a storm in one of these. I grew up going to the cellar several times a year. I just fear these wouldn’t fair well and is there a safe place to go if needed ? My grandparents lost their whole farm to a tornado. I am not being negative but it is a concern that I am not sure most people are aware of. It is very real anywhere in the south I guess. Don’t get me wrong I love these little houses and have been following the movement for years. It is just like having insurance you need to be prepared and is a very real possibility here.

You're not being negative, you're thinking of saving lives. Anyone who grew up in tornado alley (like you and I did), spent a good deal of their childhood taking cover from tornados. We all saw our swingsets, sandboxes, and sometimes our homes or a neighbor/friend's home damaged or destroyed. Some of these places in Texas have an in-the-ground shelter they can go to, but I'm not sure if all of them have it. I haven't seen one mentioned here at the Lake Dallas tiny home village, but I've seen others in the area that have at least one.

You aren't going to find many tiny homes under 80K, if you want one that is truly liveable like a small apartment would be. The price per square foot for most tiny homes is TRIPLE the cost of most traditional-size homes. That said, if you just want 4 walls, a kitchen sink, a toilet, and a shower...basically a shed you can live in, then you can check out the Incredibox from Incredible Tiny Homes in Newport, TN. It is the most basic envelope that you can live in that I've seen since I've been looking at tiny homes (2011-2023). When I say basic, I mean there is no paint on the walls, nowhere to hang your clothes, and nowhere to put your towels, no sink in the bathroom, etc. There is flooring, a flushable toilet, and a 36" shower. It's not pretty, but it is functional. They have an 8' x 16' that is like a college dorm size (but without closets or storage) for $20K and a 8' x 20' with the same layout and amenities, just 4' more length for $25K. If you have building experience, one of those might work for you if you can find somewhere to park it. WARNING: most tiny home parks and mobile home communities will *NOT* allow you to work on your tiny home once you move in, they don't want you disturbing other people's peace with a bunch of hammering, drilling, etc.

Aside that I have my problems with this, like why aren't there minorities, disabled or large families here that could clearly benefit from this? I'm sure they're the target audience that these people are trying to pull in to then at the last second screw hard.

Why does someone always have to benefit? There are plenty of handouts for everyone you mentioned. Enough already. Now the tax payers have to pay for little houses for them? I’ll pass.

Minorities, disabled & large families were never the target group for this business venture. Assuming the homes sit on his private property, the landowner can restrict sales of his Tiny Homes to a certain population. Who's going to sue him?

I just don't like the land renting. I've been renting for over 20 years and I don't like how the fees can change after a decade or so. Moving those homes is not cheap. I more looking for a tiny home on a small land that I would own. That's the dream😅

You know, when I built my first tiny house I thought I needed a giant one until I started living in it and realized it was just wasted space. I now live in a 8'x16' and it's more than enough. People don't realize how brainwashed they are by our materialist culture until you get rid of most of your stuff (not the stuff I actually cared about) and live more minimally. I used to buy a new couch every few years, buy new clothes every year, stupid crap. But everyone is different.

I don't understand why people move to a tiny home if they have a fancy $1,000 sink, $$1,000 toilet, $$1,500 gas range ect. If the tiny house is $200,000. The question becomes WHAT ARE YOU REALLY DOING THIS FOR. Tiny homes should be $75,000 or less if not jus5 go buy a small house condo. It kind of a FAD I think.

This is a trailer park. When the owner increases the lot rent or sales the land, they are going to have the same problems as trailers because they don’t own the land that it sits on. Even if you tow it to another park same issue on repeat. Edit: And it’s not “tidy” it’s really cluttered.

I cringe every time a female tells me she loves Belle. That is a recipe for a future in domestic violence if there ever was one. Little girls who love Belle tend to have fathers who are narcissists. No little girl should be encouraged to love a brutish beast, and certainly not to idolize one. Girls should be taught to RUN from men like that. I only wish I were kidding about this.

I could have had a tub in mine but kids didn't wait. I have a tub in farm house where I live with kids & grandson on their land. Because I sometimes have to have a tub. They do have private hot tubs you can rent by the hour if you get desparate for the soak. But yeah in your home is best. Also for little kids to play for help while cooking. lol. I have 7' head room. I don't want to a/c or heat all that ceiling or never shut off all the windows letting in heat in the summer & cold in the winter.

Oh yeah double sinks on my island. All three sinks have swivel faucets, black fixtures but sinks are square in kichen & square outside & a half moon scoop white porcelain but square in br. They are paying for airspace to spend on utilities that they can't use with windows glaore. That's where your money goes now. I can camp & live anywhere. Tiny homes are not accpeted in campgrounds to live yet either. So goodluck finding a place to live. I can join Good Sam's club & save money on rent as well. If I was living in a campground at a lake or river or stream ya know with nature as an ammenity.

I lived in Dallas, Lewisville, Carrollton for 33 years and I got excited about tiny houses ever since 2015. About once a month I'd drive over to Rockwall and tour all of their tiny homes. Every year, I kept waiting for The City to approve a tiny house community. So after Antifa attacked our neighborhood, I moved, to Alabama, then Florida, California, Missouri and now I'm in Louisiana. All I want, is to get a tiny house and move back to Dallas where I can retire and be near my family, friends and my Church.
