God I miss Chico's.. That's my first stop when I move back next month from here in Hereford Texas 50 miles from Amarillo... The Mexican food here doesn't compare to my home town El Paso and I've been here over 5 years...

Was out with my landlady Friday assisting her with a major problem and she wanted to take me out to lunch. She giggled when I said Chico's Tacos. I haven't had some since the day they opened up again during covid. It's one of those cravings that takes me back to when they used to make them with Government Cheese, but we adapted to cheese now used. Still we continue to go to Chico's Tacos 😋🙋♀️

So glad you highlighted El Perrito. We El Pasoans love a taste of home every once in awhile. I just discovered El Paso Flauta, which has a similar menu, but also adds chiles relleno, chile colorado and a few other EP favorites. Please consider featuring them. They are on Old San Antonio Rd and Twin Creeks Rd near the Hays Co line, bt Manchaca and Buda. Art Reyes, the owner seems to be a real nice and generous fellow and has an interesting story of how EP Flauta came to be involving his prize-winning spicy queso.

I'm from Austin Texas,El Perrito Aka means Little Doggie in Spanish,and there's a restraunt as well in Austin Texas Donn's BBQ has a fantastic breakfast menu as well as taco's,omlettes,menudo etc. and delicious BBQ you should try them some time.

Donn's is just ugh aside from breakfast, which they're barely mediocre at. El Perrito doesn't do breakfast. Completely different type of places.

Tried it this weekend. Paid $30 for the same food shown here plus a hotdog burger. All was bland, very little flavor or spice. Feel this was way over hyped. Honestly tacobell has this beat sad to say. Glad to see they are expanding to the building behind the trailer but for the hype, they really need to up their game.

Bro! They're not tacos! They're rolled ground meat flautas at best....they're overrated and really it's a poor copycat of The Real Birria Tacos with the Birria broth....they're not good at all, n the fries make no sense at all...Just stating my opinion...
@danielfred162 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right but many dishes are essentially a copycat of another dish to the point that it makes it unique in its own right
@geedubb20052 жыл бұрын
I’ve lived on the border of Juarez,El Paso and New Mexico for 60+ years and raised on Mexican food and have eaten plenty in Mexico. They’re called rolled tacos. Flautist are usually shredded Meat/brisket/chicken and usually made with a larger corn tortilla making them longer than a rolled taco. Everybody has different taste and the history of Chicos tacos and revenue are proof they are favorites.
@geedubb20052 жыл бұрын
“Flautas”. Spellcheck doesn’t understand Spanish!

Don’t eat Mexican food in Texas. You will most likely be disappointed. Be warned, if it’s covered in “sauce” you will be better off at a 7-11.

Uhm have u been to the Rio grande valley? Literally the closest thing you would get to authentic Mexican food ever. Its literally next to the border. Texas is arguably the best place FOR mexican food.
