You're so right. He had the talent, the look, & the know-how, but kept it real.

Amazing artist that, as a teenager, really 'spoke' to me, ya know. I'm 50-odd and still love Matt Johnson's oeuvre.

This was also on an EP called "Perfect", it was a lot of B sides... some of the best The The out there IMHO, I keep looking for a re-release but no such luck. My cassette recording has seen better days, so, THANK YOU!!

I'm lucky enough to have the 12" of this... it's been one of my favorites for years. Thanks for posting; I'll digitize my 12" as soon as I fix my turntable, until then I'm glad to hear it!

FUCKING AWESOME -1 of the standout tracks of the 80's - and still relevant now as it was in its day.

Great weird and wonderful track. Its available on 3 different The The records as far as I'm aware (cassette and c.d. excluded as I'm not sure there). Firstly the B side of the original 12" version of Perfect. Secondly the B side of the Slow Train To Dawn 12" and thirdly it also appears in an edited form on The The vs The World 10" e.p. so theres a few places to look...

Hold on, isn't it the original swing version on the b side of perfect. This is the one from the Cassette of soul mining, the b side to slow train and the 10 inch of Vs the world.
@Atomicsuplex2 жыл бұрын
Ah I am wrong. It the first version on the seven inch and the second version on the twelve inch. I personally wouldn't have bothered with (and wouldn't have wanted anyone to hear) the first version at all.

I love this but it always slightly bothered me how he says "jujy" instead of "duty" at 3.15. I always suspected he wanted to go back and overdub that one line but didn't have the technology at the time. or maybe he just didn't care.
