This was one of the most popular episodes from Suspense, and was produced multiple times. I uploaded what is considered the best version (starring Joseph Cotten) a couple of years back. The two versions are similar, but not identical. You can find the other version in my Joseph Cotten playlist. I recently discovered this remastered production starring Robert Montgomery, so I thought I'd pass it along to you. Montgomery was known for producing the Suspense One Hour episodes in early 1948, and this is his first time back to Suspense since then. This was written by Lucille Fletcher, who also penned the most famous episode of Suspense "Sorry, Wrong Number." Handling duties of the announcer is Paul Frees. The sound quality is now very good.

✓✓✓✓√✓√✓√√√√✓✓ STUFF . . . . and such:
If you listen closely, you can still hear some of the scratches coming from the original lacquer-vinyl record. This tells you that the surviving recording was quite rough. As modern technology continues to improve, so does the quality of the digital restoration for these 70-80 year old recordings. If you listened to this episode uploaded elsewhere a couple of years ago, you should be able to tell the difference in sound quality. The best known episodes starring Montgomery are "The Lodger" (he did both a half hour plus he produced and starred in a one hour version) and "Night Must Fall" with Dame May Whitty. All are on this channel.
